1561 I Agree
The moment Du Miao left the He family residence, He Ning had asked Jia Zhong to send a big gift to Du Bo. How could one spend time dancing on hornets’ nests and not expect to be stung?
Although Du Bo had been conscientious and diligent in his job all his life, it was still inevitable that he would play favorites at times. He Ning had investigated all those old incidents and wrote a letter to Du Bo, asking him to rein in his son.
There was nothing Du Bo could do. Du Miao was simply too lawless. It would have been fine if he had gone to see the He family for his own issues, but he had gone on behalf of the Song family.
“If Old Master Song is sick, just send him some tonics. Don’t get involved in anything else,” Du Bo said with a sigh.
“He is very sick. It’s not something that can be cured with tonics,” Du Miao said.
“What has that got to do with you! You’re a child of the Du family! Let the Song family solve their own problems! Just stay at home obediently!” Du Bo said.
“Why not! When I was young, it was Grandpa Song who brought me up! As if you have taken care of me for even one day! Have you ever come back to visit my mother and me! You only care about your job. Now that I’m grown up and you think I can be of use to you, you start to order me around just because you’re my father! Don’t even think about it! If not for my mother, I won’t ever return to this house!” Du Miao said furiously.
“Everything you have is from me!” Du Bo said.
“I don’t want it! If you want, you can take it all! I can return everything to you! Who wants to be your son! Who wants that job! If you want, you can take everything back! I don’t care! Even if I die, it has nothing to do with you!” Du Miao shouted as he pointed at Du Bo.
The commotion upstairs made the people playing mahjong downstairs feel so frightened that they did not dare to make any sound. A woman whispered, “Sister Feng, I think we’d better end here today.”
Feng Niao nodded helplessly and said, “I’m sorry, everyone. Next time, I’ll definitely prepare a good meal for all of you. I hope you’d do me the honor and come around then!”
“Of course, of course!” Everyone hurriedly ran out of the Du family residence, scared that they would get implicated in the fight between Du Bo and Du Miao.
“Did the two of you quarrel again?” Feng Nian said as she entered the study.
“Mom, it’s nothing. I’m going back. Take good care of yourself,” Du Miao said dejectedly.
“Stand here. I still have something to tell you,” Feng Nian said sternly.
Du Miao always listened to Feng Miao, so he stood obediently beside her. Feng Miao looked up and stared into Du Miao’s eyes. Her child had grown up in the blink of an eye. Time passed so fast.
“Apologize to your father. Don’t talk to either of us so agitatedly in the future,” Feng Niao said in a gentle manner.
“That’s impossible,” Du Miao said.
“Aren’t you even going to listen to your mother now?” Feng Niao said in a slightly angry tone.
Du Miao remained silent. If he resisted, Feng Nian might get angry and her condition would worsen. If he relented and admitted that it was his mistake, he would be bullied by Du Bo forever.
“Mom, do you only love my father and not me? Is everything my fault? Do I have to be treated like this just because I’m your son? I respect and love you, but what do I get in return? You don’t even distinguish between right or wrong and write off everything I have done. Then you question me and ask me why I don’t have any achievements. Don’t you think it’s ridiculous?” Du Miao said, looking heartbroken.
Feng Nian was stunned for a moment before she continued, “Apologize to your father first. We can talk about other things later, alright? We’ll sit down and listen to you.”
At this moment, Du Bo also looked towards them and said, “I can help you ask the Xia family for what you want, provided that your entire family moves back here to live with us.”
Du Miao smiled self-deprecatingly. They would help him on condition that he moved back home. Did they really want to lock him up in this cage so badly?
He cared about Feng Niao so much because when he was young, the two of them only had each other. However, after Du Bo came back, Feng Niao only cared about her husband and did not show any concern for her son at all. Even so, Du Miao was still very grateful to Feng Niao.
Old Master Song did not have much time left. He must get the Xia family’s “divine medicine” as soon as possible. For Old Master Song’s sake, he was willing to make sacrifices.
“Alright, I agree,” Du Miao said expressionlessly.
