Chapter 134: Bluffing

Michael’s smile froze, and his look became grim. He was no longer confident that everything was under control.
Just now…
… the overwhelming scent of Shawn disappeared, and a filthy evil energy took place. Even a fool would know what had happened.
Shawn was dead. Dead!
“Ha ha.”
Seven’s crisp smile came from inside the carriage. It was emotionless, as if he was just delighted by an interesting movie.
Fatty looked at Seven with respect. That was the greatest bluffing, so natural, not pretentious at all.
“Su Bai’s coming over soon, right?” Fatty murmured.
Gyatso kept his eyes closed as if he was napping. He was the most injured among them all and was in desperate need of rest. After all, he had taken care of an armored genie by himself, his legs were pierced by a spear, his only arm was broken and he was suffering from internal injuries as well. However, he was at ease. Seven was sober and handling the situation, and Su Bai would soon join them; there was no need to worry.
Covered with blood from head to foot, Su Bai approached them slowly. It was an extremely violent fight, so he was almost dipped in blood, even leaving traces of blood after he walked by. Shawn was bleeding too much as a werewolf. If he was just a normal person, it would have been far less messy.
When he got closer, Su Bai saw the three western people. Immediately, he understood what trick Seven was playing.
Seven used to say that it was easy to do business with smart people because they understood what you needed without being told.
Although it sometimes troubled Seven that Su Bai would go mad from time to time, and it confused Seven a lot and caused him much loss, he never doubted that Su Bai was one of the smart people.
Su Bai didn’t stop at the carriage. He continued walking toward the western people without even looking inside for hints.
Just kept walking naturally.
Su Bai, who had just killed someone in a fight, was like an actor that walked into another scene designed for him without being informed after finishing playing his role as a killer in one play.
He wasn’t ready for another fight. After killing Shawn, Su Bai wasn’t severely wounded but was unavoidably injured. Surely, he was deceiving Shawn, but he was indeed hurt, and the outbreak of his zombie blood caused him even more damage. Now, the rivals were on guard, he wasn’t in his best form, and the three teammates that should be extremely powerful were now disabled in that carriage.
They couldn’t afford another fight.
The westerner standing in the front was holding a wand and showing a scent of magic elements that Su Bai disliked. He must be a sorcerer. Judging by where he was standing and how the other two were following, he was obviously the leader. Behind him, the muscular one must be enhanced as a savage or a giant, and the one with bow and arrows must be an elf.
These were common and popular enhancement among western players, quite different from those among eastern ones.
It was somehow related to the cultural and geographic differences. Like, Fatty was enhanced as a Taoist and Seven and Gyatso as monks, so they would be able to get something useful or even opportunities from their teachers or schoolmates or some secret places in China. So it was with the westerners.
In China, it would be impossible to find a church more than a thousand years old or a coffin belonging to some vampire duke or elf queen. Luckily, Su Bai also had zombie blood. Otherwise, he would hardly find any opportunity for a pure vampire in China.
Michael was holding his wand up; magic elements were gathering, even the wind was becoming solid. A wind blade was ready and aiming at Su Bai.
Spells of wind magic were echoing around, magic elements were beating with rhythm, killing intention was rising. Everything was prepared for this eastern man.
Pierce’s bow was shining, the elfin power of nature was concentrating on his arrow pointing at Su Bai. His fingers were steady, showing his excellent skill in archery. In the meanwhile, there seemed to be an eagle emerging in each of his eyes. His pupils had mixed colors, which was really weird.
Jerre was breathing out steaming air, staring at Su Bai and boiling his energy inside his body.
It somehow seemed peaceful. Everything was quiet, except for Su Bai’s footsteps slowly approaching them.
But such steady footsteps with their rhythm imperceptibly formed an overwhelming momentum. Besides, Su Bai was covered in blood, which sent out a strong visual impact.
“Come back.”
Seven’s low voice came from inside the carriage, like a team leader giving an order to his disobedient member. But he was good at managing his tone, showing discontent towards his man and disdain towards the westerners.
Like a stage show, it needed actors and voiceover. Su Bai was the actor, and Seven was the voiceover. They needed to form this momentum so that the three western players wouldn’t dare to do anything reckless.
But Su Bai didn’t come back. He kept walking, and he was less than twenty meters from the westerners.
From such a short distance, the sorcerer could hit Su Bai with his wind blade even with his eyes closed, the elf’s arrow would never miss and the savage would leave Su Bai no time to react after he struck.
But Michael didn’t move. Neither did Pierce or Jerre.
Su Bai cracked a smile and showed his white teeth. Blood dripped down into his mouth, but he didn’t care, even licked it on purpose.
At the same time, Su Bai reached for his pocket.
Pierce’s bow was instantly tensed. But Michael immediately put his hand up to stop Pierce from doing anything.
Pierce nodded slightly, took a deep breath and stayed calm.
Su Bai was reaching out for Shawn’s liver, which he had kept in his pocket. Honestly, Su Bai didn’t have such a creepy hobby. He was only craving for blood when he was hurt and in need of fast recovery, but would never drink blood for fun in peacetime. In fact, when he was in good shape, he was really not fond of blood.
As a vampire and zombie, he was quite mannered. But…
… it wasn’t the time to behave right now.
He held Shawn’s liver in his hand, touched it with a smile, and then licked it.
Fatty saw this through the cracks of the curtain and immediately covered his mouth to hide a puke.
“Eww… Seven, I can’t stand this… This is sick!”
Seven looked the same. Gyatso was even smiling.
After a little while, Fatty had overcome his sickness. He peeked again, only to find that Su Bai had bitten the liver and was chewing and enjoying.
This time, Fatty didn’t throw up, just touched his forehead and said sadly:
“Do you think he can escape successfully if he leaves us behind?
“Well, I don’t think so. The baby’s still with us. He’s not Zhao Yun; he can’t bring the baby and fight a way out by himself.
“Well… I can explain what he’s doing with many reasons about benefit, but he’s not crazy enough to enjoy eating corpse, even though he is a psycho… Alright, let’s cut the crap, I’m a little touched, really.”
Seven didn’t reply to Fatty’s murmuring, just kept watching and got ready to talk at the proper time. Now, Su Bai had swallowed down half of that liver. Seven finally talked:
“We don’t have time to stay here for fun. Come back now, or we’re leaving. Guess who’s gonna win when you’re facing the three of them by yourself.”
Hearing this, Su Bai showed his teeth towards the carriage and growled in his throat. Apparently, he was not happy following the orders from the man in the carriage.
Then, Su Bai turned around, stared at the three westerners, licked his lips and put on a greedy gluttonous look.
Such a look made Pierce’s hands shake, and he could barely stop himself from firing.
“Ho!”
Angrily, Su Bai torn the rest of the liver into pieces, stepped forward and threw it all onto Michael’s face.
“Patter! Patter! Patter! Patter!”
With multiple crisp sounds, Michael’s face was covered in blood. But he didn’t move at all, only his breath was much heavier.
“Then stay. Wayward bastard.”
That was Seven’s ultimatum to Su Bai. Then the kid on the deck started babbling, the horse turned around and pulled the carriage away.
Su Bai looked at the carriage in wrath but had to leave with them.
The three western players stood there until the carriage disappeared from their view.
Pierce let down his bow and arrow and said to Michael:
“You were right, Michael. Weak players were all killed, but the tough ones survived.”

FOOTNOTES:
[1] Zhao Yun, courtesy name Zilong, was a military general who lived in the late Eastern Han dynasty and early Three Kingdoms period. While many facts about his life remain unclear due to limited information in historical sources, some aspects and activities in his life had been dramatized or exaggerated in folklore and fiction, most notably in the 14th-century historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, in which he was lauded as a member of the Five Tiger Generals under Liu Bei.
It is said that in one of the battles, Zhao Yun had carried his master Liu Bai’s young son Liu Shan (widely known as Adou/Edou) and fought through a close siege by himself, showing that he was extremely invincible, fearless and loyal.
