Chapter 379: Chapter 377: Visiting the Junior Female Disciple_1
“Qingluo is back!”
Upon seeing her entering the door, Ye Xue’e’s eyes brightened, excitedly dropped her little shovel, and ran over with open arms to embrace her daughter in her bosom.
With a light sniff of her younger daughter’s sweet fragrance, her anxiety from days of worry finally settled down.
“Mother, I missed you.”
Su Qingluo nestled in her mother’s embrace, enjoying the moment of warmth.
“Mother missed you too.”
Ye Xue’e’s eyes were filled with warmth as her heart surged with affection. She tightly held her daughter’s hand, her heart and eyes full of love.
“Good child, come, let’s go into the house. Mother has good news to tell you.”
“Qingluo also has a gift for Mother.”
Su Qingluo responded with a smile, allowing her mother to lead them back to their rooms together.
“Qingluo, I didn’t have a chance to tell you earlier, but your mother’s birth father is the world-renowned contemporary scholar, Ye Mingsheng.”
Once inside the room, as mother and daughter sat on the heated bed, Ye Xue’e could not contain her excitement and got straight to the point.
“Not long ago, your mother sent a letter to your father, recommending you as his student.”
“Your father learned of your unparalleled intelligence and talent, and how you became the top scorer in the Provincial Examination at the age of nine. He was very pleased and has agreed to accept you as his Closed-door Disciple.”
“A couple of days ago, he even sent two of his proteges, under the pretense of delivering a birthday gift to your mother, to visit their future junior sister.”
As she mentioned the proteges, Ye Xue’e’s eyes flashed, and she looked at her little daughter’s delicate and beautiful face with a prolonged, meaningful smile.
“Sadly, you happened to not be home, and they could only stay for a day before rushing to the Capital City to attend the annual Poetry Appreciation Gathering, missing you.”
“Uh.”
Su Qingluo paid no attention to the so-called proteges. In a flash of her thoughts, she subconsciously asked, “Mother, your father is my maternal grandfather, is it appropriate for a grandfather to accept his granddaughter as a Closed-door Disciple?”
“By proper etiquette, it is not appropriate, family and discipleship should not be mixed.”
Ye Xue’e replied with a smile, not overly concerned: “But it’s different for you, he’s not your actual maternal grandfather, so it’s allowed.”
But the key is that he’s my actual maternal grandfather!
Su Qingluo helplessly rubbed her forehead, her gaze momentarily bewildered.
“Qingluo, your maternal grandfather is world-famous, and countless talents from the Seven Kingdoms seek to be his disciples, but very few can get his attention.”
Ye Xue’e, sensing her daughter’s reaction, felt her heart tingle, and a hint of disbelief arose. Worried that Qingluo didn’t know the importance of having a prestigious teacher, she couldn’t help but offer more advice.
“In his lifetime, he has only accepted seven students, all of them accomplished young men with exceptional literary talent. Being under his instruction, your achievements in the future will be immeasurable.”
“Unfortunately, the six older disciples are all grown-up, only the youngest disciple is somewhat younger, currently only 15 years old, exceptionally talented and extraordinarily handsome.”
At this point, she subconsciously glanced at her lovely little daughter’s face.
“Mother, is it appropriate for a world-renowned scholar like my maternal grandfather to take a little girl as a Closed-door Disciple?”
Su Qingluo’s eyes sparkled as she quickly spun her thoughts, considering the appropriate words to say.
“Qingluo knows that Mother loves me and has my best interests at heart. But I cannot ignore my maternal grandfather’s reputation and let him be criticized because of me.”
“Since your maternal grandfather has agreed, it’s none of the outsiders’ business. Let them talk if they are jealous. My precious daughter must stand higher and go further than them, making the whole world envious.”
Ye Xue’e became unhappy, her maternal instincts overflowed, showing a rare display of assertiveness.
