Chapter 2496 Encounter
Just moments ago, in the underground domain, Fang Heng had taken the opportunity to eliminate quite a few SSS-level competitors, acquiring their invitation cards in the process.
Now, he was transferring the points from their scorecards into his invitation card.
“Heh, these rich folks have been hoarding points…”
Watching the numbers on his invitation card rapidly climb, Fang Heng was genuinely surprised and muttered to himself.
The wealth of SSS-level competitors was substantial. In no time, he had amassed over 200 million points!
That was more than double what he had collected from levels 60 to 79!
With this influx of points, all he needed to do next was head to the exchange hall to redeem all the rewards.
As he contemplated this, the group arrived at Floor 40 floor of the Tower of the White Abyss.
“Conduct a more thorough examination. We need those reports as soon as possible,” instructed a red-fanged Overseer as they entered the medical treatment area.
Fang Heng followed the group into the back hall, where they began the individual screenings.
Meanwhile, not far from the main hall, Bai Mu and his companions noticed the sudden influx of competitors undergoing pollution monitoring, their expressions growing serious.
Just over ten minutes ago, they had planned to take advantage of the sacrificial ritual that night to explore the upper regions of the White Abyss Arena.
Having just entered that upper domain, they hadn’t even had the chance to investigate thoroughly before receiving an urgent notification from the potioneer team below.
After a brief discussion, they decided to return.
Now they had heard about the need for comprehensive physical examinations for a group of competitors.
The group was puzzled.
Was this sudden?
Had something happened below?
“Bai Mu.”
“Hmm?”
A young woman focused her gaze on one of the figures and said, “That person looks familiar. Is that Fang Heng?”
Bai Mu was taken aback for a moment, then turned to look at Fang Heng.
“Is it?”
Bai Mu, somewhat face-blind, squinted for a while, struggling to confirm.
“He’s using a new identity in the game, Fang Bai,” another voice chimed in.
Qiu Xiaoling quickly grabbed a file from the table, flipping through it before nodding, “That’s right; Fang Bai is listed among the examiners.”
So it really was him!
Bai Mu steadied himself and said, “He should know what’s going on below.”
“Let’s go contact him.”
Meanwhile, Fang Heng was gathering with others in the hall, feeling increasingly uneasy.
He knew time was of the essence.
The window to redeem his rewards was shrinking.
But right now, it wasn’t suitable to make a break for it.
If the White Abyss Arena went into lockdown because of him, he wouldn’t be able to exchange items at all.
As he pondered how to leave discreetly, a young nurse emerged from a nearby small room.
“Mr. Fang Bai, there’s an anomaly in one of your report’s special values. The potioneers need you to undergo a re-examination.”
Instantly, multiple gazes in the hall turned toward Fang Heng.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, a hint of confusion crossing his face.
Anomaly?
Re-examination?
Was it due to the demonic seed within him?
In a brief moment, several thoughts raced through Fang Heng’s mind as he prepared for a potential confrontation.
“Alright.”
He agreed and followed the nurse into a private examination room.
As he entered, he spotted a few familiar faces.
Bai Mu?
What was he doing here?
After the initial shock, Fang Heng quickly regained his composure and nodded to Bai Mu, shutting the door behind him.
“Fang Heng, I didn’t expect you to be here too,” Bai Mu finally confirmed Fang Heng’s identity and quickly introduced everyone, “This is Fang Heng, the demonic seed of Greed. This is Qiu Xiaoling, one of the demonic seeds of Gluttony, and this is Abulati, one of the demonic seeds of Sloth.”
The group exchanged nods, quickly familiarizing themselves with each other’s faces.
“It seems Pride has an extra person on their side?”
At the mention of Pride, expressions turned serious.
“Have you seen Jing Ge’er?”
“Yeah… so that’s his name…”
“When was this?”
“Just now, in the altar ritual area downstairs.”
Qiu Xiaoling felt a chill run down her spine.
Had Jing Ge’er already acted in the ritual area?
Bai Mu urgently asked, “What’s the situation down there?”
“It’s not good. The Overseers have already noticed the anomaly and are moving to clear the black fog in the lower area. As for Jing Ge’er…”
“Given his abilities, he probably won’t be able to break the seal quickly. Moreover, the Overseers in the White Abyss have special means to deal with the black fog…”
Fang Heng analyzed, shrugging as he continued, “From my personal judgment, Jing Ge’er won’t be able to break the seal.”
As everyone listened, a heavy silence fell over the group, their expressions grave.
This was a real problem.
Jing Ge’er’s disturbance had drawn the attention of the White Abyss, making their mission much more difficult.
Bai Mu quickly thought it over, then looked up and said seriously, “Since that’s the case, we should act now. We’ll get the information about the demonic seed’s seal and withdraw immediately.”
The others exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.
“Alright.”
“With a backdoor, we can leave through there.”
As Bai Mu and the others were preparing to leave, they noticed one person was missing and turned back to see Fang Heng still standing there.
“Uh… you guys…” Fang Heng watched them move with a sense of helplessness.
What was going on?
Why were they suddenly acting?
He still had a large number of points he wanted to exchange!
Time was limited, and once the battle in the underground domain concluded, the points he had just earned could vanish at any moment.
“Can you at least tell me what you plan to do?”
“We’re taking advantage of Jing Ge’er attracting the Overseers’ attention. The upper levels of the White Abyss are currently lightly guarded, so we’ll enter the database on Floor 150 and try to find out where ‘Jealousy’ has sealed the demonic seeds in other worlds.”
Well, dealing with Jealousy was indeed the priority…
Exchanging points would have to wait.
Hoping there was still time, Fang Heng sighed heavily and followed them.
“Wait, I have a friend outside who doesn’t know about our situation. We need to figure out a way to bring him along and let him leave first.”
…
After Fang Heng and the others left through the back door, they watched as Simone took the elevator out of the White Abyss Arena. They then boarded another elevator to the upper levels.
With the impending battle, the atmosphere grew tense.
Fang Heng glanced at Bai Mu and asked, “We have a few minutes left—why don’t we discuss the battle plan?”
“Hmm, we learned that all the information regarding the White Abyss Arena was stored on Floor 150.”
Fang Heng looked up at the elevator. The highest number displayed was Floor 120.
Noticing Fang Heng’s gaze, Abulati added, “The upper floors are generally restricted for ordinary people in the arena. You need access through the internal elevator on Floor 120.”
Bai Mu continued, “The main challenge for this infiltration is breaking through Floor 120, where there are numerous Overseers.”
Fang Heng nodded, understanding the situation. He asked, “So what’s your plan?”
