Chapter 185: Make Things Worse
“Can’t Xingzhou be bailed out as he waits for his trial?” Yun Xiangxiang asked.
The matter was too big of a coincidence. He Xingzhou neglected to bring his agent and assistant along. The unit was under his name. The trio unanimously accused him of being the drug supplier. Something was off in this case.
“Xiangxiang. Xingzhou is suspected of drug trafficking, not taking it,” Lu Jin emphasized.
“Drug trafficking?” Yun Xiangxiang’s pupils contracted. This is the worst case scenario.
“First off, out of four of them, only Xingzhou’s checkup revealed a negative in the presence of drugs. Secondly, there are large amounts of alcohol in Xingzhou’s body. It’s enough to cause a hangover for him. Besides, the trio had unanimous testimonies. The cops bumped into their drug session by accident. Two of them were unconscious when they were arrested.”
Yun Xiangxiang knew what Lu Jin was saying. With how suddenly the trio was arrested, and how their testimonies were taken separately, they would not have the time to sync their testimonies.
Even if the trio wanted to wrongly accuse He Xingzhou, their testimonies would not be so uniform. There were only two possibilities: They had conspired this earlier, or they were telling the truth.
If it was a conspiracy, they should have injected the drunken He Xingzhou with some drugs when he was unconscious. If they did that, He Xingzhou could do nothing to defend himself.
However, they did no such thing. Not having the courage to do such a thing meant that He Xingzhou was their supplier instead. If they offended He Xingzhou, they could only be sitting ducks when the withdrawal hit them.
Everything pointed to one conclusion: He Xingzhou was trafficking drugs.
“Xiangling, can I see He Xingzhou in this situation?” Yun Xiangxiang sought Li Xiangling out after ending the call with Lu Jin.
Yun Xiangxiang was a stranger to the field of law. She never played any law related character in her past life. Even if she did, she couldn’t do much work. Law was an ocean that was filled to the brim with information.
Li Xiangling shook her head, “If he is a suspect of drug trafficking, he is under criminal detention. Nobody can see him besides his lawyer.”
“Xiangxiang, did He Xingzhou really traffic drugs?” Song Meng was starting to doubt when she heard what Lu Jin said from Yun Xiangxiang.
Song Meng’s question made Yun Xiangxiang feel powerless. It was any normal person’s reaction after all. Anyone who wasn’t related to He Xingzhou would at least suspect or even be convinced that He Xingzhou was guilty of drug trafficking.
Perhaps it was because of her own profit, or perhaps it was because of how well they got along in those few months. Yun Xiangxiang refused to believe that He Xingzhou trafficked drugs.
“Before he is convicted, we have no right to malign anyone, not even the prime suspect,” Li Xiangling lectured Song Meng.
“I am just a normal girl. I can’t be as rational as you,” Song Meng felt Li Xiangling was born to work in the field of law.
“Get some rest, and see the results tomorrow,” Yun Xiangxiang sighed. She said good night to them before returning to her own bedroom.
She couldn’t even show her concern in public on this matter, let alone interfere with it. He Xingzhou was not a child. He had his family, friends, and his agency. It was not her place to do anything. She could only wait for everything to conclude.
She needed to live her life too. However, to Yun Xiangxiang’s shock, He Xingzhou’s case took a turn for the worse on the next day.
An actor reported about He Xingzhou with his real name, claiming He Xingzhou was guilty of drug trafficking. This actor nearly had his acting career ended because he did drugs four years ago, when his career was at its peak.
Yun Xiangxiang was familiar with You Jie. Not only did she collaborate with him in her past life, more importantly, his case was the last one Yun Xiangxiang stood by as a spectator in her past life.
Six years ago, You Jie played an aggressive CEO. That made his popularity explode throughout the Internet, instantly making him the idol of the nation. His two subsequent dramas which were set in the ancient era then spiked his popularity to impossible heights. Right when he was at the top of popularity hill, he was exposed to taking drugs, and was even convicted of it.
His sentence was not grave. After serving the time, he was quiet for a long while. It was only recently that he started taking on minor, inconsequential roles.
He claimed He Xingzhou was the culprit behind his fall from grace back then. However, he was a rational man. He did not go on a rampage in his accusations. Instead, he regretted his choice of friends back then, as well as his weak will. He received his punishment. Now it was He Xingzhou’s turn.
The public only noticed that He Xingzhou and You Jie belonged to the same agency. He Xingzhou rose quickly after You Jie’s fall, becoming the most popular star of their agency and monopolising the company’s best resources.
You Jie’s erstwhile fans started the hashtag of #HeXingzhouScumofSocietyGetOutOfTheEntertainmentIndustry#.
This hashtag immediately shot to the top of trending on Weibo. All of a sudden, admonishments and curses directed toward He Xingzhou flew all over the Internet.
“I can’t take He Xingzhou’s side now,” Song Meng was upset when she saw the news.
She used to be a screaming fan of You Jie. You Jie was dashing and talented.
Yun Xiangxiang did not know what to feel. She silently sat on the sofa. You Jie collaborated with her in her past life.
She remembered the gastric attack that almost made her faint when they were filming. Wen Lan was not beside her, and her assistant had to leave for a while. The one who found her and gave her the medicine she needed was You Jie who came looking for her.
When that drama was getting marketed, Ruo Feiqun went to record the theme song for Lu Huanong’s new drama. Their loving singing and intimate actions were caught on photo by the reporters, and they took it out on purpose to ask Hua Xiangrong.
Everyone knew Hua Xiangrong and Lu Huanong were only peaceful on the surface even though they were in the same company. It was as if the entertainment reporters were trying to find materials just to anger her. Their questions were getting harsher with each session.
When Hua Xiangrong almost exploded with anger, You Jie stood up and said, “Don’t I, the male protagonist, have any charm? Why aren’t you guys concerned about me?”
He distracted their attention away from her, helping Hua Xiangrong. That was why the usually indifferent Hua Xiangrong would be concerned about the news of You Jie taking drugs when she was in the hospital.
When You Jie finished serving his sentence, Hua Xiangrong even gave him a call. He only said, “It’s quite fine. It’s a release.”
Just as Yun Xiangxiang was silently drowning in her muddle thoughts, her phone rang. It was Song Mian. She picked it up quickly.
Yun Xiangxiang was worried about Song Mian’s call this early in the morning, “What is it, Ah Mian?”
“Is He Xingzhou the second male protagonist in your last film?”
Yun Xiangxiang was surprised that Song Mian would ask about this, “You even read entertainment news?”
Even though He Xingzhou’s case was gaining momentum, it was limited to the front page of the entertainment section. Yun Xiangxiang felt people like Song Mian should only care about news regarding finance, countrys’ politics, and the medical field.
Perhaps he would also care about sports news if he was interested in sports. But it was a surprise that Song Mian knew about it so quickly even when he was overseas.
“I care about everything that is related to you,” Song Mian replied naturally.
“Your mushiness is going to kill me sooner or later,” Yun Xiangxiang replied as she held back her laugh. “En, He Xingzhou was the second male protagonist in the last film.”
