Chapter 49: Exposing His Ability
In the wilderness of the night was the sound of high winds, torrential rains, lightning, thunder, and enemy fires. With his face facing down, Kyle fell with the flow of gravity. The night wind rattled his trench coat. He’d chosen to come and assist Steve to test his new strength in actual combat. There was no reason not to come, and surely he’d encounter a fruitful harvest!
Not far below, Steve opened the parachute, followed by Kyle a few seconds after.
Two figures floated in the wilderness.
“Du, du, du, du!”
They were only 20 meters off the ground when the enemy below found their trail and kept shooting in the sky.
“I’ll draw the fire away!” Steve shouted. Otherwise, the bullet would hit Kyle. He immediately controlled the parachute to attract the attention of the enemies.
“Damn it, I want to take a bullet too!” Kyle shook his head and smiled. Then, he pulled out his Nepalese Army knife from his waist with his left hand. He waved it around, cutting off the parachute rope. He was more than ten meters above the wilderness when he fell.
It wasn’t only Steve, but a few of the German soldiers who were stunned after seeing what Kyle had done.
“Does he want to kill himself?” One German soldier said.
After falling from a height of more than 10 meters high, Kyle rolled on the dirt and stood up.
“My legs are a bit numb, but now I can do things that no ordinary amman would be able to do.” There was a smile on his cold face. “Now what are you waiting for? Shoot!”
Several German soldiers looked at Kyle in a flurry of daze. It was not after his reminder that they remembered to raise their guns, hurriedly pressing the trigger. But Kyle reacted faster. He didn’t retreat, but instead rushed up to the muzzle off the German soldier with his knife located in his left hand.
Shaaaa!
He skillfully evaded the bullets, his figure moving at a supersonic speed.
If a sprinter moved at a speed of 100 meters per 10 seconds, then Kyle moved at the speed of 100 meters per 3 seconds! In other words, it had only taken him a breath’s time to move quickly.
Shua!
Kyle didn’t give the chance for a second wave of bullets to come flying at him, as he’d already approached the enemy. With a knife in his hand, the blade slashed horizontally.
The German leader’s eyes were filled with panic, rifle in his grip falling flat to the ground at the same time. The barrel broke to pieces and soon, there was a bloody mark painted on his neck. His head had been cut off.
“……. ∑(゚Д゚) Mo… Mo… Mo… MONSTER!!!”
The soldier behind their leader howled in fear ready to escape, but fate had plans for him. Kyle took a quick step forward, stretched his right hand, and swung the knife across the back of his neck. The soldier, he’d soon face Death.
“Don’t move!” Cried the other enemy, cheeks flustered with fear as his gun was pointed at Kyle. But long before he could pull the trigger, Kyle swiftly raised his legs, blasting the man a few feet away. Kyle smirked and trampled over his body.
“Kyle, your speed and strength… What’s going on?”
It was Steve.
Kyle sighed, maintaining a calm countenance. He had no plans nor thoughts to hide his ability to Steve and to anyone matter of fact.
“Ah… this…” Kyle smiled shyly, “I didn’t want to tell you cause I’ve just gotten this power not too long ago… I wanted to get the hang of it first.” Then, he looked up, eyes twinkling a spark of seriousness. “Do you remember my counterattack campaign a few days ago? Well, in the warehouse of the enemy’s base, I found an odd looking tube. I wanted to bring it back for the scientists to study, but when I escaped, the tube broke and the liquid inside seeped into my open wounds.”
Steve’s eyes changed. “This liquid… is it blue?”
Kyle nodded. “Yes. The liquid fused with my blood. I passed out in pain and before I realized it, I was in a hospital. My body seemed to have undergone an unprecedented variation to the peak of human conditions.”
“Congratulations, Kyle,” Steve smiled sincerely, “It looks like you got the original Super Soldier Serum to successfully integrate with your body.”
“Yes. Doctor Erskine, did you know he developed the serum while in Germany? But due to unfortunate circumstances, he fled to America. Now he’s gone along with the formula, but to think that you’d manage to stumble upon one. You’re really lucky Kyle.”
Steve, he was happy, really. Kyle passing the chance to partake in the Super Soldier Project to give to him had formed an unnecessary knot in his heart. But its alright now. There was no need to be ashamed.
On the other hand, Kyle had a difficult time weaving through his web of life, but regardless, Steve trusted him. After all, it was a lie that was justifiable.
Once the matter was over with, the two proceeded forwards to their destination.
“I was worried how we’re going to get through this but now that you’ve become a Super Soldier, and given your combat experience, I think our chances of sneaking inside the factory to rescue our comrades will greatly increase!” Steve said firmly.
“In that case, the stealth operations will be under my command,” Kyle nodded confidently, “Ah right… Let me give you a lesson on the battlefield.”
Before continuing, Kyle raised his left foot, stepped forward, and smashed the struggling enemy soldier. He fell in a puddle of mud, struggling frantically. He couldn’t breath as suffocated to death under the suppression of absolute strength.
“I see…” Steve nodded hesitantly.
Despite Steve’s strengthened physique, he was still a rookie.
“Then follow me and go to the front doors! If you can avoid the patrol guards, avoid it, but if you can’t, don’t give your enemy a chance to alert the others.”
With that, Kyle and Steve set off towards the direction of the factory, quickly disappearing amidst the dark night.
