Chapter 605: Chapter 612: Why are you looking at me? (First update)
Yang Zhen stared blankly at Wen Yuning. The Heavenly Book’s Ksitigarbha Chapter was on him — did that mean he was the person capable of precisely locating the Heavenly Machine Lock?
If that was the case, why was Yang Zhen still sticking around these three guys?
Upon this thought, Yang Zhen had already come up with an excuse to leave. However, he swallowed them down when Ding Chun interjected.
“But what good would finding the location of the Heavenly Machine Lock do? The dangers of the Heavenly Machine’s Tribulation Array are nine deaths for one life, even powerful beings at the Divine Transformation Stage wouldn’t dare to bluntly barge in. Those who can obtain the Mysterious Origin Path are blessed by the heavens, we’re just here to try our luck.”
These words made Yang Zhen’s heart skip a beat, and he swallowed back the excuse he had gotten ready to voice out.
There’s danger!
Damn it, it was fortunate he didn’t leave immediately because the Heavenly Machine Lock turned out to be such a perilous place. If he blindly rushed into it, wouldn’t that be seeking death?
It seemed safer to stick with these three guys.
So, Yang Zhen made up his mind. He had to follow these three; he would never even leave if they tried to chase him away.
At this moment, Gong Sanhe, with a smile, said: “The Heavenly Machine Lock is not as dangerous as you all think it to be. As long as we are cautious, there’s still hope.”
Listen, even the old man who disregards a Divine Transformation Stage character says there’s hope. It seemed this thing wouldn’t be easy to get a hold of.
While speaking, Gong Sanhe pulled out a bronze-made disk, which almost made Yang Zhen cry out in astonishment.
This shape, this color, this… was simply a simplified version of a compass!
Was the Ancient Life Sect perhaps a lineage of tomb raiders?
Upon seeing Gong Sanhe take out the compass, the expressions of Ding Chun and Wen Yuning suddenly changed, and they respectfully stood off to the side.
Gong Sanhe turned to Yang Zhen and said, “Step back, I’ll try and see if I can find the location of the Heavenly Machine Lock.”
Yang Zhen, out of curiosity, withdrew to the side of Ding Chun and Wen Yuning, looking at Gong Sanhe with anticipation.
Gong Sanhe’s expression grew serious as the compass in his hands spun rapidly. He muttered words under his breath too quickly for Yang Zhen, indicating some ancient ritual was at hand.
Just when Yang Zhen was growing suspicious, the compass in Gong Sanhe’s hand suddenly burst with a yellow light. Amid a humming sound, an image of a ‘Mountain and River Map’ appeared above the compass, emitting a mysterious aura.
Yang Zhen jumped in surprise; he had not expected this compass actually to be a Sacred Treasure. It was the first time Yang Zhen saw a Sacred Treasure that wasn’t a weapon, and his perception of the Ancient Life Sect was raised to a new level.
Despite Gong Sanhe being only an elder of the Ancient Life Sect, it was apparent he possessed a compass capable of finding dragons’ locations, and it was even a Sacred Treasure. Clearly, the Ancient Life Sect was so powerful, it defied Yang Zhen’s imagination.
Moreover, what surprised him was the sheer amount of True Essence this tiny compass consumed. In such a short time, Gong Sanhe, a powerful Mahayana Phase practitioner, started to break out in sweat.
Humm——!
With each humming sound, the Mountain and River Map above the compass expanded further. Upon close inspection, Yang Zhen widened his eyes in surprise.
This Mountain and River Map looked quite familiar. Upon closer inspection, Yang Zhen was shocked to find out it was a reduced version of the grand landscape visible to their naked eyes.
This was downright terrifying. Being able to sketch a map so quickly and easily, this thing was quite useful!
Yang Zhen was covetous, wondering if it would be possible to understand how this thing worked, and thereafter refine one for himself. It would be a great tool for preventing oneself from getting lost; merely humming a sound would draw up such a large map, truly a godsend for every household and traveler.
If Gong Sanhe and the others knew what Yang Zhen was thinking, they might have kicked him out with a slap.
Suddenly, Gong Sanhe drew a deep breath. Amid the foggy landscape within his view, complex and mysterious patterns started appearing on the Mountain and River Map, just like a scanning device, seemingly to scan the whole landscape.
Yang Zhen watched Gong Sanhe weirdly, Gong Sanhe was indeed applying the Ksitigarbha Skill, but Yang Zhen never imagined it could be utilized like that… totally ridiculous!
This wasn’t using the Ksitigarbha Skill but rather farting without pulling down the pants, totally unnecessary.
Even if Yang Zhen didn’t know which version of the Ksitigarbha Skill Gong Sanhe was using, he could vaguely discern that Gong Sanhe was first capturing the world’s landscape into the compass and then using the Ksitigarbha Skill to find anomalies in the reduced landscape.
How was this approach different from directly scanning the world’s landscape with the strength of divine perception?
Perhaps there was some difference. The only advantage of this method was its ability to avoid the geomancy and feng shui of the world’s landscape, direct scanning of a model wouldn’t cause any geomantic and feng shui changes.
As for other advantages, Yang Zhen couldn’t think of any. Anyway, he wouldn’t use such a lowly method himself. Plus, there was indeed a technique available in the Ksitigarbha Skill that allowed one to find dragons’ locations while avoiding the changes in geomancy and feng shui.
Apparently, Gong Sanhe didn’t know this technique. Though his method was a clumsy but effective last resort, it was obviously still strenuous for him to use with his current level. If he kept going like this, he wouldn’t be able to determine the exact location of the Heavenly Machine Lock and would end up spitting blood.
“Puh——!”
“Holy shit!” Yang Zhen was startled; he didn’t expect Gong Sanhe to start spitting blood so soon, so much that he almost stumbled and fell.
“It seems it won’t work after all. The Heavenly Numbers Skill and the Ksitigarbha Skill are too profound. This method doesn’t work. It seems we’re not destined for the Heavenly Machine Lock.”
Gong Sanhe shook his head, a helpless wry smile flashing across his face, making Yang Zhen unable to bear it. Why was this old man pushing himself so hard?
A look of concern and regret flashed across Ding Chun and Wen Yuning’s faces. Ding Chun suddenly turned to Yang Zhen and asked, “What did you say just now?”
“Huh?” Yang Zhen was taken aback, “I didn’t say anything.”
“No!” Ding Chun’s face gradually grew cold, as he stared at Yang Zhen and said, “Just now when Elder Gong was under backlash and spat out blood, you cursed? Are you disappointed that we couldn’t find the Heavenly Machine Lock? What did you say just now…?”
“Ding Chun, show some respect!” Gong Sanhe said harshly, about to speak when Yang Zhen suddenly opened his mouth.
“Hmph!” Ding Chun snorted coldly, clearly somewhat displeased.
Yang Zhen curled his lips and glared at Ding Chun, saying, “Fuck, what I said just now was ‘fuck,’ I think… to find this Heavenly Machine Lock, you just need to clutch a piece of grass.”
Upon hearing Yang Zhen’s words, all three were stunned. Ding Chun even burst into laughter and said, “Nonsense! Find the position of the Heavenly Machine Lock by holding a piece of grass? Do you take me for a three-year-old child?”
Yang Zhen stared at Ding Chun, grinning and saying, “How can you know it if you don’t try?”
Before Ding Chun could speak, Gong Sanhe suddenly frowned and asked,”Does Little Li truly know how to find the location of the Heavenly Machine Lock?”
Yang Zhen didn’t answer Gong Sanhe’s question but just kept smiling at Ding Chun.
Ding Chun was visibly annoyed now and stared back at Yang Zhen, saying, “What are you looking at me for?”
