Chapter 291: Chapter 288 Careless
The loud shout vibrated through the woods.
The birds that had initially flown off took flight once again.
Ji Zuodong’s right foot, stepping out of the wooden door, paused ever so slightly, before falling again, subtly treading left and right, and the mud with budding grass sprouted out from the sides of his shoes.
As one could imagine, a deep footprint had already been branded into the ground.
“Impossible.”
Ji Zuodong squinted at the panting Bonuo, shaking his head in refusal.
There was no reason to hand over something that was already within reach.
The standoff between the two men brought the audience to a climax, were they about to fight?
Also, was Ji Zuodong’s English really that good?
As the only Huaxia person among the sixteen contestants, Ji Zuodong was able to reply with fluency when faced with Bonuo’s threats,
“It’s quite normal. What do you think Special Forces and paramilitary police are? They are the elites, not merely martial fighters. Many of them are proficient in a foreign language. In addition to French and English, I even spent five months before attending Hunter Academy learning Spanish.”
Bi Fang was showing off a bit, but indeed that was the truth. Special Forces were not only physically strong, their intellects were equally mighty.
When he said this, he even used Spanish, and then it was automatically translated into Chinese subtitles, the trilled R sound he produced was so lifelike, it was almost identical to a native speaker’s.
In Spanish language learning, nothing is more difficult than the trilled R, but it seemed that Master Fang had mastered it, surprising and even shocking the few knowledgeable viewers in the live broadcast.
Wait a minute, isn’t this his third foreign language?
“Spanish is one of the entry qualifications for Hunter Academy; I find it not surprising at all.”
Since Bi Fang had upgraded from Blue Special Forces to Purple Special Reconnaissance Forces, and his status had changed accordingly, the System had arranged for him to have completed a stint at Hunter Academy, ensuring there would be no gaps in his cover—Spanish was given to Bi Fang as an additional skill.
“Are you sure?”
Ji Zuodong’s face was filled with an amused smile, showing no hint of nervousness, and he casually lifted the machete in his hand, “Want to try taking it by force? Give it a try.”
Bonuo took deep breaths, trying to quickly recover the physical strength he had exhausted from rushing over. He gripped the antler weapon in his hand, looking fiercely determined.
There were six items in the cabin, and although it was unclear what the other four items were, he was certain that whatever Ji Zuodong had taken was the best!
Had he not encountered it, it would have been fine, but now…
Rob the bastard!
Without much probing or communication, Bonuo suddenly lunged forward, the seven to eight meters distance flashed by in a blink, like a priest from ancient times, his antler weapon smashing towards Ji Zuodong’s head—a ferocious strike indeed!
Ji Zuodong involuntarily ducked his head as the antler weapon brushed past, grazing his hair above. His heart was slightly shocked; he hadn’t expected the other party still had such vigorous strength.
When the first strike missed, Bonuo did not back down. His wrist flipped, changing the smashing motion to a chopping one, and almost at the same moment, Bonuo also felt the fierce wind aimed at his chest.
He roared as he twisted his body halfway, and his chopping hand didn’t stop for a moment.
The antler weapon, carrying a tearing sound, struck Ji Zuodong’s shoulder accurately and powerfully. Ji Zuodong’s mouth opened wide with pain, but he did not make a sound. However, the claw knife in his hand was not affected at all. The sharp, tiger-claw-like blade rested against Bonuo’s chest. With a slight pause, it pierced through the fabric, sliding towards the skin!
Bonuo was startled. In the wilderness, a cut from a sharp object was much more troublesome than a blunt force injury. He immediately retracted the antler weapon and moved to the side to dodge.
Ji Zuodong was relentless. He had intentionally taken a hit, determined to make his opponent pay a price. His wrist exerted force and the cold claw knife slid downward, the clothing was torn open in a large swath, forcing Bonuo to retreat backwards, suddenly losing his balance and falling directly to the ground. He took advantage of the moment to roll backwards, then kicked out to the side, rolling several times, momentarily creating distance.
Without rushing to pursue, Ji Zuodong moved his shoulder that had been hit to restore circulation of his blood and qi while setting down his sleeping bag behind him. He stared at Bonuo, who was not far away, still with a smile brimming on his face.
To be honest, he kind of wanted to eliminate his opponent right there.
Bonuo’s panting grew heavier, and after he stood up, his chest heaved uncontrollably as the sensation of oxygen deprivation returned; he looked down at his torn shirt.
Blood oozed from his chest, staining the lining which clung to the flipped-open flesh. The sweat from two days of travel had left salt encrusted in the fabric, causing a scorching pain where it stuck to his wounds.
Damn it, I was too impatient.
Cursing in his heart, he had initially felt frustrated that someone got ahead of him. His temper flared uncontrollably, and he’d heatedly attempted to snatch the prize without thinking it through, convinced that it wouldn’t lead to a fatality. But now he had suffered a serious setback and was even considering retreat. Watching Ji Zuodong eager to advance, he immediately shouted.
“Wait, wait, trade you some venison for your chopper. How about that?”
“Too late!”
“A sleeping bag then, a sleeping bag! Claw Knife! Can we make a deal?”
Desperate, Bonuo yelled, but Ji Zuodong pretended not to hear.
Venison? If I eliminate him, it will be mine anyway!
His thigh muscles tensed, sinking a one-centimeter-deep footprint into the ground as he lunged toward his adversary.
FUCK!
Seeing that the other man was not letting him off, Bonuo stopped counting on luck and swiftly ducked down, throwing himself towards his opponent.
There’s no way I can run; after just running several kilometers, I’m too worn out to escape, and the situation will only worsen. Eventually, I might be worn down to death. I’ve got to fight back!
The two men collided fiercely, one brandishing an antler weapon, and the other using the nimble and peculiar Claw Knife. The antler’s force was heavy and powerful, the Claw Knife sharp enough to chill to the bone, and for a moment they seemed to reach a standoff.
But Bi Fang could see that Bonuo was at a disadvantage, partly due to his physical strength and also because in close combat, the agile Claw Knife was faster and had the upper hand, even enjoying the benefits of the rules!
The Claw Knife is such an unfair advantage!
The show’s rules forbid causing excessive harm, so naturally, Special Recon Soldiers who focus on killing are at a disadvantage compared to the skillful Ji Zuodong who excels at subduing opponents. The Claw Knife, being small and only a few centimeters in blade size, even if it caused a cut it wouldn’t be severe, allowing Ji Zuodong to exploit his full potential.
Bonuo’s sleeve was slashed open again, revealing a shallow wound on his forearm. He could feel his condition deteriorating, with almost no chance of turning the tables.
In the midst of battle where circumstances shifted in an instant, Bonuo suddenly aimed the massive antler in his hand at the enemy’s face.
Ji Zuodong blocked the antler and turned to see Bonuo taking the opportunity to flee, even discarding his venison to lighten his load.
Is he seeking his own death?
Ji Zuodong didn’t understand why his opponent chose to run, but had no time to ponder. To quickly eliminate the threat, he sprinted after him.
The two pursued each other swiftly through the woods, but Ji Zuodong who was relatively more rested sped up too quickly. Even though Bonuo had used a diversionary tactic and had a head start, the gap between them was closing rapidly.
As the footsteps behind him drew nearer, Bonuo silently calculated, knowing that once the distance was right, Ji Zuodong would pounce!
The whooshing sound came from behind his head, yet Bonuo was not alarmed; instead, he was actually pleased. Knowing he couldn’t outrun his foe, if he couldn’t dodge this move, he would surely be taken down. Since they were not allowed to harm each other excessively, he was likely to lose.
But this was also an opportunity!
Prepared, Bonuo braced his right foot, which had been sprinting forward, and instantly halted. He spread his legs front to back, lowering his center of gravity, standing firmly in place!
As he made this move, Ji Zuodong had already lunged onto his back with both hands swiftly wrapping around his enemy’s neck.
It was a Naked Choke!
Bi Fang had demonstrated this move multiple times. The audience, all too familiar with it, recognized it instantly.
Is he going to win?
