Chapter 350: Chapter 348 Disguise
“There’s someone here!”
A chorus of shouts roused the entire factory, and the bald man outside heard the yelling and cracked a smile.
His efforts had not been in vain.
The fuel money was secure.
Leaving two to defend the first floor, eight went inside and six of them arrived in front of the bathroom.
“Where’s the person?”
Those who arrived later looked at the empty room, puzzled, until an older man with a clearly higher status stepped forward and loudly questioned the young man who had shouted first.
“I don’t know! But when we got here, there was this metal rack blocking the way!”
From the drag marks on the floor, it was clear that the metal rack didn’t fall over naturally, but was moved by someone.
The flashlight shone on the rust, the dust on the floor was swept aside by the dragging, and the footprints made it blatantly obvious that the metal rack had not been down for long!
“Right, why haven’t Mogadi and Mikran come?”
“How should I know? Maybe they found something upstairs, those two always like to steal the glory. They’re just trainees, right? Deserters all the same.”
“Maybe they’ve been taken out already?”
“How could that be, they had guns after all.”
“Shut up! Focus on searching!”
Six beams of light moved in unison inside the confined room, searching for a possible exit, but found nothing.
The young man who was questioned first started to panic under the others’ hostile glares, and before he could speak, a crisp sound of metal clashing echoed through the room.
Five pairs of eyes turned simultaneously to another member, who sheepishly pointed at the iron bars on the floor, and then up at the ventilation shaft on the wall.
“It just fell down when I touched it…”
The older man suddenly froze, realizing something was amiss and immediately bellowed.
“Quick, chase them!!!”
…
“Are you sure?”
“Positive!”
Bi Fang nodded affirmatively, warily peering out at the guards by the wall.
The two of them leaned against the wall, looking quite disheveled, covered in dust and nearly blackened, but considering the original disgusting plan involving the sewer, this was much better.
It was just a bit of dust and grime, clean compared to a sewer teeming with strangers’ skin flakes and bacteria.
The only pity was that had it been a sewer, the two could have followed it underground and escaped; but a ventilation shaft did not reach underground, it only extended at ground level.
At that moment, Bi Fang’s gaze was firmly on an off-road vehicle not far away, with flames flickering in his eyes. Just as the two had crawled out of the ventilation shaft, a bold idea sprung to his mind.
[Damn, can we hijack it?]
[Go for the modified one, I think it’s worth a shot.]
[Right, the modified one, with that huge fork, so cool. If we get chased, we can just ram it.]
[I think it’s doable.]
[Are you all just full of plans, huh?]
Hijacking the vehicle was essential; Bi Fang was sure they had been discovered. Once the people in the factory reacted, they wouldn’t get far on foot.
They had to seize one forcefully.
Now was the best opportunity, with most of the factory’s personnel distributed elsewhere, each off-road vehicle guarded one direction, and each direction was defended by only two people.
Two people, that was all, and Bi Fang, comparing their skills, was still fairly confident.
It was a risky gamble. If it failed, they could be turned into sieves by more than a dozen guns, and by then, even transforming into Rambo to reenact the legend of First Blood would be futile. But should they succeed, these people wouldn’t be able to touch them anymore.
If he had a choice, Bi Fang wouldn’t want to resort to such a dangerous move, but given the situation, he had no choice but to take the risk. With a success rate of around fifty percent, Bi Fang was willing to give it a try.
With that thought, Bi Fang combed his hair and handed his coat over to Matthew, then put on the jacket he had stripped from the man in black earlier and straightened the collar.
This scene left both the audience and Matthew dumbfounded.
Big brother, I know you’re live streaming, and you’re one of the top broadcasters in the world, but is it really appropriate to change outfits and tidy up your image right now?
But a second later Matthew was speechless, because he saw Bi Fang, having donned the jacket, swaggering around the corner. Matthew couldn’t stop him even if he tried.
Was he planning to blend in and sneak out!?
It finally dawned on Matthew, but could it really work? There were only about a dozen people who came. Did they not all recognize each other?
But he didn’t understand that Bi Fang was still playing on the information gap.
The adversaries didn’t know who was hiding in the factory, still thinking it was the same type of survivors as before. How could they guess that a fierce tiger was hidden inside, daring to appear boldly before them?
Moreover, the Bandit Gangs’ only sources of illumination were car headlights and flashlights, so as long as the timing was right and there was no conversation, one could sneak in completely.
At this time, two men were leaning against an SUV, smoking and chatting idly, glancing around now and then for a bit of vigilance. They had done this many times without any mishaps, and felt extremely at ease.
Seeing someone approaching, one of them lifted their flashlight, not shining it on the face—as nobody shines a flashlight in someone’s face, especially the typically ill-tempered Bandit Gangs. Thus, the two men just glanced at the approaching figure’s attire: a vest, with a sawed-off shotgun at the waist…
Yep, one of their own.
The two bandits clearly did not expect Bi Fang to be so bold. A captured man actually dared to show up right in front of them, walking with such swagger!
So when Bi Fang, in a jacket and slinging the iconic sawed-off shotgun around his waist, no one suspected that he was the “prey” in disguise.
“Hey, how did you end up like this? Did you climb out through the ventilation duct? Where’s your partner?”
Although they didn’t shine the flashlight on his face, the diffused light still revealed parts of Bi Fang’s facial outline, which was fortuitously very dark. So dark, in fact, that they wondered if Bi Fang had just crawled out of a ventilation duct.
Unfortunately, even though the two guessed the truth, Bi Fang wouldn’t be handing out any awards, and instead silently continued walking forward, rapidly closing the distance.
“Hey, why are you not talking? I’m talking to you!”
Watching Bi Fang, who said nothing and kept approaching, the men finally realized something was amiss.
“Hey, stop right there!”
One of them stopped fussing about and shone the flashlight directly at Bi Fang’s face, only to see the rapidly approaching face of a stranger.
Too late!
Before the two of them could react, Bi Fang pulled out a steel spike from his waist and swung it forcefully. The whistling steel spike flashed as it struck one of them.
Before a scream could escape, the second man counterattacked, but Bi Fang was already up close. He drew a pistol and a shotgun, pressing them against the foreheads of the two men, and threatened, “Where are the car keys?”
“They’re, they’re in the car!”
The two threatened men swallowed hard, not making any attempt to resist.
Bi Fang took a glance inside the car to confirm, then called Matthew over to help control the situation, after which he knocked out both men.
The two of them climbed into the car, Bi Fang tossed the backpack into the back seat, and took the keys to start the vehicle, his hands finding the steering wheel.
Huh, it’s real leather.
Excitedly, Bi Fang had just turned the key, the dashboard lights had just come on, when suddenly, a head popped out of the third floor of the factory, shining a flashlight toward the end of the ventilation duct and shouted.
“Someone’s escaped through the duct!”
Unfortunately, the only response was the roaring of the engine.
He floored the throttle, and the high-powered engine roared as the SUV, like an unbridled wild dog, rolled over the factory fence and dashed into the city under the cover of night.
