Chapter 510: 510
After taking down several Treants, the real boss battle is officially underway, showing Starfire just how challenging a level 20 main storyline instance could be.
The mere beginning of the instance had Starfire in life-or-death battles. The nightmare, the sense of impact, losing blood and dying were all real. If it weren’t for a scroll, people would truly be gaming themselves to death.
The members were relieved about one thing – if Li Yao hadn’t discovered the instance sooner, this nightmare alone would be enough to take teams down.
And after being played, these rival teams would never disclose anything. They’d rather see others trapped just like them.
With so many teams around, who knew how many would not even make it to the level.
On top of all this, the subsequent bosses even formed a small team, utterly despicable. Although the other bosses were relatively weak, when combined they were incredibly formidable.
Finally, there was only one boss left, which came as a huge relief.
The spirits of Starfire were greatly boosted, and they began unleashing a chaotic onslaught.
The High Priest’s health points continued to decrease rapidly, and it soon reached the 70 mark.
During this time, the High Priest had only four skills. The first was Nightmare Fog. Although powerful, it wasn’t as impactful without other bosses to aid it.
The next skill was Nightmare Ejection, an incredibly annoying ability. However, the members of Starfire had been dealing with it for a while and had found some tactics for it. Although it was inevitable that some would be controlled, they could usually free them.
The next was to summon soul explosions. The High Priest could summon the souls of four Treants for an explosion after a while.
The final skill was Nightmare Barrage. Even though the damage was high, it would instantly kill anyone hit by it aside from the main tank (MT), including Li Yao.
However, this skill was the most useless. The Nightmare Counter Shield of the Fruit Knight had completely restrained this ability, causing the Nightmare Barrage to strike himself instead.
Additionally, the Guardian Angel also had a sub-par Counter Shield. From the beginning until now, the skill hadn’t affected any player of Starfire. This was the mark of a powerful MT.
Although the majority of the members did not know that the Fruit Knight had blocked this skill, Li Yao was very much aware of this and was highly satisfied with the Fruit Knight’s skill.
It would be good to know that the Fruit Knight’s character was inclined more towards violent attacks, rather than defense.
Even though she was the main tank, Li Yao was a little worried about it. But as time passed, Li Yao witnessed the growth of Fruit Knight firsthand, even though there were some minor issues.
This was due to her lack of experience as a tank player, rather than a lack of skill or talent. As time passes, the Fruit Knight will inevitably become one of the world’s top MTs.
Furthermore, her attack power was not weak at all due to her elite profession. Li Yao could even imagine the scene of her appearing in a competitive match.
You should know, when it came to real matches, there were very few MTs that could participate. Although they possessed high resistance and armour and were difficult to kill, most of the tanks could only annoy people.
The inevitable result was that others would control them and not bother, kill their teammates first, then play to death a tank who could not kill.
‘You losers really piss me off. You truly believe I can only control four Nightmare Treants? How ridiculous. It’s time for you to witness the true power of my Nightmares.’
The High Priest raised his Magic Wand again, and the red light inside of him was divided into four and plunged into the four shadows behind him.
All of their faces changed; they knew too well that this Hog was summoning more Treants.
‘Can we interrupt it?’ Unparalleled asked.
Angel and Fruit Knight, along with the Rogue, tried their interrupting abilities in succession to no avail.
‘It’s entirely ineffective,’ said Fruit Knight.
You should know, although bosses generally have very high resistances to abnormal states, when these expert players use interruption or control abilities, even if they cannot interrupt the casting process, they should be able to delay it a little.
However, this time it had zero effect; it was as if this skill had not been cast at all.
Li Yao, whilst starting Rapid Shooting, said, ‘We can’t interrupt this skill. Start bursting, focus your fire on him. Pupil, cast Bloodthirst.’
As quick as Pupil was to react, she had already cast Bloodthirst Skill.
The sudden roar echoed from their collective souls. A layer of light enveloped all the team members. The end of Bloodthirst was great; it significantly increased everyone’s output.
Upon receiving Li Yao’s instructions, the team members put their minds at ease and began to output right from their positions.
The boss was currently summoning the Treants and couldn’t move. What a perfect time to unleash an onslaught! And since he was in a casting state, the damage he received was also increased. Coupled with Starfire’s terrifying outbursts, the boss’s HP was dropping rapidly.
Especially Li Yao, his pets had already received a 15% boost, now coupled with the Bloodthirst buff effect, the output was horrifyingly extreme.
Li Yao was even surprised to find that his output was exceeded by his three pets, let alone the other team members.
‘Wakaka, weren’t you the one with high-output? How did you end up being left behind by three pets?’
The Guardian Angel had no method of bursting, his profession meant the more hits he took, the higher his output. Now that the boss wasn’t hitting him, his output had become significantly lower.
While others were busy revising abilities and adjusting outputs, he leisurely observed the output data.
The other team members glanced through the DPS statistics, noticing a distinct separation into three scores. The first score included the three pets, with similar outputs.
The second score was for Li Yao, whose output was less than the three pets but still considerably higher than the other team members. Then came Mu Zi, Pupil, Li sister…
‘Hehe, next time we form a team, we can call for three powerful pets and one Hunter; all the Hunter has to do is to sit back and relax.’ The cute and silly Pupil giggled.
Everyone broke into a hearty laugh upon hearing her but understood that Li Yao was not outputting at full strength, worrying about causing chaos with hate generating.
They initially thought they could catch up with Li Yao’s output, but looking back now, they were far from it.
Moreover, the revelation that Li Yao was calculating hatred while commanding and outputting filled them with admiration. Everyone knew commanding was the most exhausting. Many teams had the commander just command the team while effectively doing nothing else. These types of teams were very common because managing the whole situation was too difficult.
However, Li Yao’s commands were flawless, and his output was always the highest, which had nothing to do with the equipment.
As their output continued, the boss’s health dropped as if there was a blood explosion…
