Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Mutated Wild Boar
The vehicle was still moving, with everyone praying that these mutant animals would be as easy to deal with as the monkey troop they had just encountered, or that they wouldn’t come into conflict with them.
“Chirp chirp chirp”
The little monkey’s ears perked up; it seemed to sense something too.
Indeed, even through the vehicle, they could feel the vibration from the ground. Mao Zhihang brought the car to a stop because it looked like many animals were running towards them from up ahead, and he didn’t dare to rashly plow through.
Then, one after another, black wild boars appeared in front of them. These boars were twice as tall as the adult pigs in the space, with dark brown bodies and distinctly separated bristles on their necks, as well as sparse needle-like hair. There were more than twenty wild boars blocking their path.
“Should we try to break through?” Mao Zhihang asked as he stared at the herd of wild boars in front.
These boars didn’t seem to want to call it quits; each one had fierce eyes focused on the three vehicles in front of them.
“There’s no need; it’s just wild boars, and they are treasures,” Su Jin laughed upon seeing which kind of mutant animal was coming. It was indeed lucky; mutated wild boars were treasures in the Apocalypse.
“These boars, they wouldn’t be thinking of eating us, would they?”
From the vehicle behind them, Lin Xiuyuan looked at the sleek black pigs and felt a sense of ill intent. In his memory, pigs were dim-witted and the kind that didn’t eat meat.
“That’s hard to say. Pigs eat anything. When mom was little, children in the village who weren’t looked after would be lying in bed, and when the adults came back, they’d discover that only the child’s head remained, eaten by the pig in the courtyard,”
Huang Yunxiang recalled vividly; that incident was a dark shadow of her childhood.
“No way, that’s terrifying?” Even domestic pigs eat people? Then wild boars all the more so, Lin Xiuyuan made a horrified face.
“Anyway, I think this bunch of beasts doesn’t want to let it go. Let’s get ready,” Nie Qing said, leaning on the window.
Sure enough, Su Jin soon told them to prepare for battle.
The herd of wild boars, seeing the people emerge from the three vehicles, became even more excited and began to grunt deeply.
“Everyone pay attention, attack their abdomens; their heads and necks are the toughest parts of their bodies,” Su Jin advised. In her previous life, she had also killed these kinds of wild boars, but those she killed back then were much bigger than the ones now.
These mutated wild boars looked large and sturdy on the outside, but as long as one knew where their weak points were, they could be easily killed with Special Abilities.
The boars no longer stood off against the group and charged straight at them with grunts. Indeed, they ate everything, vegetarian or not, especially after mutating, they attacked humans or other animals more frequently and then ate them.
When Su Jin got out of the car, she had intended to leave the little monkey inside as it was so small; she estimated that the wild boars could swallow it in one bite. Unexpectedly, the monkey climbed onto Lu Hao’s arm, chittering persistently. Lu Hao looked at the “little thief” he had just caught red-handed and found it somewhat amusing, but since Su Jin and the others were so fond of it, he resisted the urge to brush it off and let it perch on his shoulder.
At that moment, while Lu Hao was blasting a mutated pig onto a tree with a fireball, the little monkey excitedly chirped and jumped on his shoulder as if to say, “Good hit, good hit!”
Did this monkey have a grudge against those wild boars?
The thought crossed Lu Hao’s mind, and he couldn’t help but feel he was on to something.
The troop of wild boars had attacked the monkey troop several times before, even eating many monkeys. Xiao Jin’s mother had been eaten by this group of boars. Therefore, it had been living with the troop for a long time. It was small and scrawny because, without its mother’s protection and always unable to get food, it was no surprise that seeing the boars getting thrashed brought it such joy.
Su Xiangzhe, in concert with Lin Tianzhen and Huang Yunxiang’s Water Element, used his Thunder and Lightning Ability to paralyze several wild boars, then Nie Qing and Xue Wanyi employed Wind Blades to directly pierce through the upturned bellies of the incapacitated boars.
Su Jin’s vine-based ability transformed into sharp spikes, stabbing toward the backside of the wild boars!
At that moment, one of the boars let out an angry roar, its bristles becoming distinctly separated at the neck. With a build-up of energy, it shot those spikes out in all directions! The spikes flew towards the group in an instant!
“Be careful!”
In the nick of time, Lin Cheng conjured a huge Earth shield with his Earth Element Ability, firmly protecting everyone from the spiky assault.
“Dad, you’re awesome!” Lin Xiuyuan exclaimed.
With the spiky attack blocked, the remaining boars charged again!
Xue Wanyi also used a Wind Blade to slice open the belly of a boar, and after Lu Guanhai knocked one down with a Fireball, he plunged a Watermelon Knife into the boar’s belly.
Because the wild boars had numerous spikes, Liao Yifan, along with Guo Yang, Yin Chengtian, Shi Jin, and others, used Watermelon Knives to dispatch several more.
No one was idle, and the wild boars were quickly dealt with by the group.
“Girl, did you say earlier that these wild boars are treasures all over?” Mrs. Su asked while treating a scraped wound on Yin Chengtian’s skin.
Su Jin smiled, nodding as she said, “The spikes of the mutated wild boars can be used as weapons, their meat can be eaten, and most valuable of all is their skin, which can be made into very effective protective clothing. Isn’t that worth some money?”
“Valuable, indeed,”
The group agreed, nodding their heads.
Among the heads of these mutated wild boars, Lu Hao found more than a dozen Beast Cores, varying in size. Su Jin planned to absorb them into her Space when she found the time.
“Young sister, you take them. If I put one of these wild boars in my space, it will probably stink in two days,” Guo Yang said with a sigh, looking at the corpses of wild boars scattered on the ground, wishing his own space could preserve freshness…
Smiling, Su Jin stretched out her hand and began collecting the scattered wild boar corpses into her Space, thinking to herself whether her grandparents would be frightened when they saw it.
The blood shed by the wild boars attracted many Zombies on a distant highway. Qiqi reminded everyone that some Zombies were coming their way.
“Will this never end?” Lin Xiuyuan muttered. It’s not easy living in Province A, with Zombie Birds one moment, mutated wild boars the next, and now Zombies are also on their way. And this is just the edge of Province A.
Fortunately, these were just Ordinary Zombies. Drawing materials from the ground, Lin Cheng manipulated the surrounding rocks and clods of Earth, knocking down a swarm of Zombies. But many that weren’t hit fatally twisted their necks and slowly got back up, running toward them.
To deal with these Ordinary Zombies, they were too lazy to use their Special Abilities again, opting to wield Watermelon Knives and chop down the Zombies one by one.
The little monkey clung desperately to Lu Hao’s collar, terrified of being thrown off.
“Xiao Jin, can we let it go?”
Lu Hao asked with distaste, recalling how during the fight, the little monkey kept excitedly screeching on his shoulder, and on several occasions, he considered just slapping it away.
