Chapter 83: Chapter Eighty-Three: The Carriage
After discussing among themselves, the family unanimously decided to set out early the next morning because they intended to retrieve Guo Yang’s several SUVs from his company’s garage that day.
Guo Yang had spoken to them about these cars before, and he had also brought the keys for the new vehicles; now was the time to collect them.
In the Apocalypse, having vehicles truly couldn’t be overstated; one could say that without a car, it would be nearly impossible to get around.
Guo Yang had also asked Su Jin how large her Space Element Ability was; after pondering, she told him it was roughly the size of a school sports field, the kind that was 800 meters in circumference.
Guo Yang was deeply shocked because his space seemed to be only 100 square meters. He had always thought that 100 square meters was quite large, but Su Jin’s was so much bigger!
“After your Special Ability levels up, your space will grow accordingly,” Su Jin said.
“Really? That would be great!”
Upon hearing that his space might expand in the future, Guo Yang felt relieved. He also guessed that his younger siblings must have had the Space Element Ability before the Apocalypse, otherwise, how could it have become so large? Additionally, considering how secretive they were when collecting weapons last time, they must have already had the space then.
However, Guo Yang had only guessed a fraction of the truth; after all, something like the Wood Spirit Space is not something everyone could imagine.
There was no time to lose, so eventually only Su Jin, Lu Hao, and Guo Yang went to retrieve the vehicles. Now that the abilities of the family members at home had improved as well, they felt confident leaving them behind.
The three set off in the small sedan that belonged to Lu Hao and Su Jin. The zombies in the vicinity had been thoroughly cleared, and occasionally, they could still see people in heavy clothing venturing out, thinking the thicker they dressed, the less likely they were to be scratched; hence, some even wore down jackets.
Su Jin shook her head; wearing such thick clothing, wouldn’t they find it cumbersome to run…
The area where they lived was a residential area without large supermarkets, so some daring individuals only ventured to nearby convenience stores to grab some food.
Those convenience stores had been intentionally left untouched by Su Jin and the others previously, as they already had ample supplies in their space, and a batch of food was about to mature. Therefore, they left these stores for those who needed them.
As they drove further, the number of zombies on the streets gradually increased, and occasionally they could see groups of people armed with shovels and kitchen knives smashing into street-side shops to loot.
It seemed that a portion of the population was slowly realizing that if one wanted to be saved, it was necessary to rely on oneself; only, such people were a rare breed, with the majority still waiting at home for rescue.
Guo Yang’s company wasn’t far off. The underground parking’s automatic recognition system was no longer functional, so Guo Yang pressed the accelerator, crashing straight through the barrier arm and bursting in.
The crashing sound attracted many zombies to gather; those outside the parking garage and those inside, Guo Yang estimated there were at least fifty or sixty zombies!
“Guo Yang, turn on all the headlights!” Su Jin clenched her fists, it had been a long time since she had had a good fight.
Lu Hao, too, was like a leopard poised to spring, looking out the window. Guo Yang was amazed to see the shift in the demeanor of the two.
He switched on all the car’s lights, and the flickering silhouettes in the dark underground parking were shadows of zombies drawn by the noise.
“Wait for us here for ten minutes,” Lu Hao said and then he and Su Jin got out of the car.
The glaring headlights made the zombies look even uglier. Su Jin and Lu Hao, back to back, faced the zombies approaching from all directions. There was no fear in their eyes, only calm.
Guo Yang watched in astonishment from inside; just how powerful were these two? Dozens of zombies in ten minutes?
But what happened next forced him to believe. Zombies near them had their heads cleanly severed by the two, and those further away that hadn’t managed to approach were burned by Lu Hao’s Special Ability Fire, leaving them utterly incapable of attacking; and Lu Hao was like lighting candles, focusing the fire solely on the zombies’ heads, which turned to ash within seconds.
Su Jin’s Wood Element Ability acted as a powerful protective net for the two. When zombies tried to sneak attack, they were immediately wrapped by vines and then had their heads cut off by Su Jin.
The zombies in the parking garage were finite, and the two quickly dealt with them all. Guo Yang checked the time on the car, and damn, it was 8 minutes.
He gave the two a thumbs up and didn’t waste any more time, leading them straight to where the SUVs were parked.
Looking at the brand new SUVs lined up side by side, Su Jin was pleasantly surprised.
“Guo Yang, didn’t you say there were only a few cars?” She had always thought a few meant three or four, not so many.
“I did say a few, didn’t I tell you the exact number?” Guo Yang couldn’t remember if he had mentioned the specific number of vehicles.
“You two take them,” Lu Hao urged, his Special Ability Fire still burning in his hand because the parking garage was too dark inside.
“Little sister, why don’t you take them? My space will be full with just two vehicles,” Guo Yang said, troubled, as 100 square meters really was too small.
“OK, no problem,” Su Jin said with a smile, then went in front of each of the SUVs one by one, collecting them all into her space.
Guo Yang watched Su Jin in amazement: “You, you’re not tired at all?”
One must know that Space Element Ability was still an ability, and using it to retrieve or place things consumed power. But Su Jin collected them so quickly and seemed not tired at all; it was truly astounding.
