Chapter 172: Chapter 172 Picking Up Bargains
“`
The Flying Bull Knights who pounced on the Alloy-Level Mutator were slaughtered by Jiweis in but a moment, leaving only one fleeing towards the high heavens.
Jiweis grasped a long spear and hurled it into the sky, piercing through the fleeing Flying Bull Knight and his steed alike, sending them plummeting down from the skies.
After killing the Flying Bull Knights, Jiweis, holding onto a bull’s horn with one hand and standing on the slain beast, descended to the ground and returned to Lin Shen’s side, handing over the captured Pet Launcher to him.
Lin Shen took the two Pet Launchers Jiweis handed over, fiddled with them, and immediately two Flying Bulls flew over, landing in front of him and Jiweis.
“Ah! Are those Tian’s pets?”
“Can pets even be this handsome?”
“Handsome and strong, humanoid too, never seen a pet like this.”
As people were discussing Jiweis, Lin Shen and Jiweis had each mounted a Flying Bull. Lin Shen, holding the Pet Launcher, said, “Later, let’s grab more of these gadgets.”
Finished speaking, Lin Shen picked up a Red Crystal Long Spear and spurred his mount into the sky.
Jiweis followed closely behind, soaring into the sky and charging towards the most intense part of the battle.
Bai Shenfei and the others were barely sustaining the attack from the Flying Bull Knights. It wasn’t that they couldn’t defeat the Flying Bull Knights—after Bai Shenfei had leaped up and slain one of the knights, the remaining ones no longer made diving attacks, instead taking out their bows and arrows and showering Bai Shenfei and her fellow Mutators with volleys of arrow rain from above.
The Red Crystal Arrows posed a significant problem for Bai Shenfei and her companions, who unfortunately couldn’t reach the Flying Bull Knights in the sky.
Bai Shenfei felt some regret. She shouldn’t have killed so fiercely at the start, making the Flying Bull Knights wary. But it was too late for regrets now.
As she pondered how to deal with the Flying Bull Knights above, she suddenly saw the knights who had earlier rushed towards the summit now flying back.
This raised a bad feeling among Bai Shenfei and the others, thinking maybe the Alloy-Level Mutator had nearly been massacred, prompting the return of the Flying Bull Knights.
But upon closer inspection, she noticed that although many had gone, only two Knights had returned.
“Tian!” On recognizing the riders atop the two returning bulls, they were both shocked and overjoyed.
No one had imagined that Tian, who was only at Alloy Level, could actually take out those Crystal Base-Level Flying Bull Knights and even capture two Flying Bulls.
Looking at the other person riding a Flying Bull, with light patterns flashing splendidly, they recognized it was a Base Mutation pet, and they suddenly realized Tian had hidden a powerful Crystal Base pet, which explained how he could counterattack and slay the Crystal Base-Level Flying Bull Knights.
“Jiweis, take him out,” Lin Shen commanded, pointing at the Red-clothed Dragon Knight flying at the highest point.
Jiweis, flying by his side, heard Lin Shen’s command and immediately signaled his mount to accelerate, charging towards the location of the Red-clothed Dragon Knight.
Lin Shen too pulled on his Flying Bull, following close behind Jiweis.
“Wait, take me with you,” Bai Shenfei shouted from below.
Even if Lin Shen’s pet was supposed to be strong, facing so many Flying Bull Knights and that Red-clothed Dragon Knight, it would be difficult for them to gain an advantage.
“Tian, let’s go together,” Mo Shengqi also called out from below.
“`
Lin Shen didn’t care about them, and even if he heard their chatter, he pretended he hadn’t. Flying pets were quite rare, especially the kind that could be ridden.
Although pets like the Azure-eyed Divine Eagle were considered flying pets, they weren’t suitable for riding.
It wasn’t that the Azure-eyed Divine Eagle wasn’t strong enough to carry a person into the sky, but rather that its body simply wasn’t suitable to be ridden.
Sitting on the eagle’s body would interfere with its wings; if the wings couldn’t move freely, how was it supposed to fly?
Standing on an eagle’s back? Or sitting on it? Aren’t you afraid of being thrown off and killed if it makes a sudden turn during flight?
So, there were flying pets, but not many that could be ridden.
Lin Shen was very interested in these flying bulls, and snatching away the Pet Launcher meant all those flying bulls were now his.
At a time like this, the spoils of war he had seized—who would have the audacity to come and demand a share from him?
The Red-clothed Dragon Knight and the Flying Bull Knights had naturally noticed them. The Red-clothed Dragon Knight let out a roar, and the Flying Bull Knights immediately drew their bows and shot arrows toward Jiweis and Lin Shen.
Seeing the rain of Red Crystal arrows flying their way, Lin Shen quickly had his flying bull hide behind Jiweis, while tossing the Red Crystal Long Spear he had picked up to Jiweis.
It was his first time riding a flying pet, and the fact he hadn’t fallen off was already an accomplishment—how could he maneuver the flying bull to dodge an arrow storm?
Jiweis caught the Red Crystal Long Spear and leaped into the air, advancing toward the shower of Red Crystal arrows. The spear in his hand turned into a whirling fan of five speeds.
All the incoming Red Crystal arrows were deflected by him, creating a shower of sparks, with the ringing sound of metal clashing ever present in their ears.
Lin Shen quickly ordered the flying bull Jiweis was riding to charge toward his landing spot, and managed to catch him before he fell.
Since they were already close, the Flying Bull Knight Regiment only managed to get off one volley before Jiweis charged into their midst, leaving a trail of sparks and lightning, where arrows broke and men perished as spears were knocked from their hands.
The power augmented by the dragon patterns on his body was simply too strong; his blade clashed with those of the same rank and remained invincible.
Following behind, Lin Shen took advantage of the chaos, seizing several Red Crystal Long Spears that Jiweis had knocked away. He slung them on his back and held onto one, stabbing a Flying Bull Knight who had lost his spear in the chest.
Although Lin Shen was only of Alloy Level, his level 31 strength wasn’t much inferior to that of a regular Flying Bull Knight. Killing one who had been disarmed and was off-balance by Jiweis was not a difficult feat.
Thus, a bizarre scene unfolded in the sky: Jiweis charging wildly in front, unstoppable, making the Flying Bull Knights fall haphazardly.
Behind him, Lin Shen followed, crazily delivering finishing strikes, targeting vital spots. Whenever there was an opportunity, he would strike down a Flying Bull Knight with a spear and then casually take their Pet Launcher.
In no time, hundreds of Flying Bull Knights couldn’t handle this one man and his pet.
“That’s too explosive, that pet is too invincible—looks even fiercer than Ouyang Yudu!” Seeing Jiweis’s explosive performance, the hairs on many people’s necks stood up.
In the sky, the Red-clothed Dragon Knight let out a roar. The Flying Bull Knights who had been desperately blocking Jiweis suddenly opened a path, allowing Jiweis to rush past easily and charge straight toward the Red-clothed Dragon Knight.
But Lin Shen who was following behind was stopped and found himself surrounded by hundreds of Flying Bull Knights.
Without Jiweis charging ahead, Lin Shen’s situation suddenly became very grim.
