Yao Tang didn’t seem fazed as she smiled up at the old man. “I know that you’ve arranged Meng Ling to marry Yang Ming in order to push through with this cooperation. All of what I have done here right now is for Meng Ling’s sake.”

“It is that reason that I propose that she be given a chance to love and marry whoever she wants. Don’t let her become the victim of a loveless marriage. She is to be the matriarch of the Meng Family. Should she not be given the chance to choose for herself?”

Everyone’s jaw dropped.

Even Meng Ling glanced at her friend in disbelief.

Yao Tang could’ve gotten a lot of money if she had wanted it. She knew that she needed it. All she had to do was name her price. Even if she had asked for a hundred million yuan, they would’ve given it to her no problem.

The man slowly nodded, making sure that she had no other requests. When everything was confirmed, they quickly signed the arrangement.

Only after taking care of everything did Meng Ling finally accompany her back to school. She also made sure to fill her in on everything that had happened in the past month.

As soon as they had arrived, Yao Tang noticed how quiet the school was. Everyone had already gone back home from the college entrance exam. Now, they were at home, waiting at the edge of their seats.

She had actually come back home to pack up her stuff. However, as they were walking down the corridor, they ran into the teacher in duty—Zhang Ting.

Zhang Ting blinked upon her arrival. “Yao Tang! Why did you come back so late? Will you be retaking the exam? Why didn’t you take it?”

“There were some things that I needed to take care of. Don’t worry, Teacher Liang, none of this would affect my future plans.”

“It won’t?” She frowned. “Are you planning to go abroad?”
