385 Collision (Part 2)
“Mama!”
Zhao Nian, don’t come over and stick to me. Yue Jiaojiao avoided his pounce in time. “I’ll get hot if you stick to me.”
Zhao Nian nimbly turned his head and looked at Zhao Zhan with eager eyes. “Papa!”
Zhao Zhan held a folding fan in his hand and sat beside Yue Jiaojiao, fanning her. He then pointed to a spot not far from his feet. “Sit here. You’ll get some wind too.”
Zhao Nian crawled over and gave his father a fawning smile. Then, he sat down and reached out his chubby hand to pull on Yue Jiaojiao’s skirt.
“Don’t pull on your mother;s clothes.” Zhao Zhan stuffed a little tiger into his hands. “Hold this.”
Zhao Nian lowered his head and looked at it for a long time. Then, he threw the little tiger to the side.
“Sir, we’re reaching the city gate,” the driver’s voice came from outside. “The officer at the city gate wants to check the travel pass and household registration.”
“Okay, let’s stop for now. Go and inform the people in the carriage behind us to get ready.”
“Yes.”
The carriage stopped.
Zhao Zhan put down the folding fan in his hand, picked up Yue Jiaojiao’s outer robe, and helped her put it on. Then, he took out the household registration and travel pass from the drawer on the side of the carriage and checked them. After that, he held Zhao Nian in his arms.
Their carriage was following behind the caravan.
“Jiaojiao, you stay in the carriage with Zhao Nian. I’ll go down and stand next to the carriage. I’ll handle the situation.”
“Alright, pass me Zhao Nian.”
Zhao Zhan pinched Zhao Nian’s face. “Be good and listen to your mother. Don’t make a fuss.”
The commotion at the city gate had already reached the carriage.
Yue Jiaojiao pulled down the carriage’s curtain, feeling a little nervous for some reason.
In their team, there was her, who had been declared dead in Yang City, and Li Xiangjun, who ran away and eloped with someone.
The guards at the gate of Shangjing were so strict that even flies couldn’t fly in.
“Stop!”
The bailiff’s chiding could be heard in the carriage.
Not only was Zhao Nian not afraid, but he also struggled to crawl out and watch the show.
“Zhao Nian, I’ll accompany you for a stroll once we’re in the city. Stay still.”
“Officer, we’re from Yongnian Caravan. We’re all acquaintances here.” The coachman was a member of the caravan. As he spoke, he took out a purse from his pocket and handed it to the servant who had come to check. “You’ve worked hard guarding the door. This is just a small token of respect.”
“Hmm.” the bailiff replied coldly as he put the pouch into his pocket. He then pushed the coachman aside and said,”Whoever is in the carriage, take out your household registration and travel pass for inspection.”
“My wife and my child are in the car.” Zhao Zhan took the initiative to open the curtain for him to take a look and then handed him the things. “Here are the household registration and travel passes for the three of us. Please check them.”
