409 Carriage
Lady Yun entered the shop and put on the same style of clothes that Yue Jiaojiao had specially ordered for them. The only difference was the color of the cloth used to wrap their hair, which gave a fresh sense of life into the shop.
Li Xiangjun, who had come with Yue Jiaojiao, didn’t act bashful either. After she put on her clothes, she immediately busied herself with work.
The work in the shop was done in silence, and Yue Jiaojiao watched from the side for a long time, but she couldn’t find anything she could help with.
Moreover, every time she raised her hand, it made them think that she had done something wrong and they immediately stopped production to stare at her. This made her sit quietly at the side.
“I just went to buy some morning food.”
The food basket in Zhao Zhan’s hand was full. “Eating in the shop will spoil the smell of the pastry. I’ll take them to the backyard first. The shop will be open in less than two hours. Eat more now and save your strength for later.”
As he spoke, he turned his head to look at Yue Jiaojiao, who was sitting on a chair next to him. A smile quickly flashed through his eyes, and he carried the basket to the backyard without saying anything.
When he returned, he saw Yue Jiaojiao trying her best to keep her eyes open, trying her best not to fall asleep.
“Jiaojiao,” Zhao Zhan immediately bent down and pulled Yue Jiaojiao into his arms, “Are you sleepy? The backyard isn’t big enough to take a nap, I’ll take you to the carriage to sleep.”
She had woken up too early today. Staying in the warm shop and surrounded by the aroma of pastries, Yue Jiaojiao felt her limbs warm and her bones warm, and she couldn’t help but feel sleepy.
At this moment, she was obediently in Zhao Zhan’s arms. Her arms subconsciously wrapped around his neck, and her head naturally leaned on his shoulder. The little bit of consciousness she had left disappeared in an instant.
Zhao Zhan looked at his lover who had fallen asleep, and his movements became gentler.
When Lady Yun and Li Xiangjun, who were busy at the side, saw this scene, they looked at each other and smiled. They placed the bread on the table into the oven and went to the backyard to eat.
“Zhao Zhan.”
The interior of the carriage was padded with a soft cushion, and Yue Jiaojiao subconsciously mumbled when Zhao Zhan placed her on it.
Zhao Zhan, who had originally wanted to get up, lay down because of her ambiguous address. He reached out and pulled his lover into his arms, hugging her tightly.
His gaze lingered on Yue Jiaojiao’s face. He was worried that he would disturb her and couldn’t help but want to touch her from time to time, so he gently pecked her forehead.
“Don’t mess around.”
In her daze, Yue Jiaojiao only felt an itch.
His lover frowned, obviously annoyed that her good dreams were disturbed by something. Zhao Zhan grabbed her hand and didn’t dare to make any more noise. He just kept close to her, his ears perked up to pay attention to any movements outside.
When Yue Jiaojiao woke up, she could feel Zhao Zhan’s hand on her ear.
The noise outside was blocked by this move and faded a little. She blinked and did not get up immediately.
“You’re awake?”
Zhao Zhan could tell that she was awake from the change in her breathing rhythm, but he did not move his hand away. He only coaxed her, “There’s still about ten minutes before the shop opens. There are a lot of people outside right now.”
Yue Jiaojiao opened her eyes subconsciously.
Their carriage was parked right in front of the shop. If she got off now, the people who had been surrounding the shop for who knows how long would instantly burst into a discussion when they see the two people suddenly get off the carriage that had been quiet all this while.
“Are you worried that those people will gossip?”
Yue Jiaojiao didn’t see the mischievousness in Zhao Zhan’s eyes, and only nodded her head as she thought of a countermeasure.
