Chapter 455: Chapter 455: Even a Meal Can Lead to an Encounter
“`
The visit from the two medical authorities and the respect they showed him in conversation, coupled with the invitation to join a national continuing education project, immensely satisfied Luo Ziling’s vanity. So much so that after they left, he was still a bit smug.
After Wu Mingyun and Li Mingxun left, Cao Jianhui, Li Fuming, and Wu Longjiang, who were waiting outside the classroom, immediately rushed in, surrounding Luo Ziling with a barrage of questions, all eager to know what the trio had just discussed.
In the eyes of the medical students, Dean Wu Mingyun was an esteemed figure. Cao Jianhui also knew of Li Mingxun’s reputation, so his tone was full of envy and jealousy as he spoke.
“They asked about Mr. Wang’s condition yesterday. They were just interested in medical issues,” Luo Ziling couldn’t be bothered to explain much to the three guys and waved them off nonchalantly, “Nothing much to talk about, I’m hungry, let’s go have lunch.”
“Boss, you really should talk about it more,” Cao Jianhui said with a sullen face. On the way to lunch, arm in arm with Luo Ziling, he earnestly said, “The Dean of the Medical College personally came to our classroom to see you and even spent a long time chatting. If this gets out on the campus forum, I bet everyone will talk about it again. You should really boast about such honorable events—we brothers also get to share in the prestige, and you’re bringing glory to our class.”
He then added mysteriously, “Our class is striving to be recognized as a model class, so we need to spread this kind of eye-catching news as much as possible. You’re already a celebrity, and we need to make full use of the celebrity effect. Boss, for the collective honor of the class, you should sacrifice your beauty and show your face more on the forums. When you garner honors for the class, I will have the whole class and Miss He take turns treating you to big meals.”
“Alright, alright,” Luo Ziling found Cao Jianhui’s teasing somewhat amusing and didn’t outright object, but he insisted not to talk nonsense on the forum.
However, at that moment, Wu Longjiang suddenly exclaimed and shouted, “Damn, someone actually posted about the Dean coming to the classroom to see the Boss before us. That’s too much! Which classmate dares to steal our thunder?”
Cao Jianhui and Li Fuming leaned in to look and sure enough, there was a post on the forum about Dean Wu bringing someone to see Luo Ziling, though it didn’t have photos.
“Damn it, someone’s got some nerve to be so arrogant. Let’s take down his post immediately,” Cao Jianhui said as he grabbed his phone and prepared to post, smirking salaciously at Luo Ziling, “I sneakily took a few photos of you sitting with the two medical experts. I’ll upload them. I’m going to post under my real name!”
Luo Ziling was both embarrassed and amused by their antics but couldn’t help laughing when he saw the three clowns busily yelling and fawning over their phones.
Being young is wonderful, going to school is wonderful, he couldn’t help but muse to himself.
Compared to life in the small mountain village before, his current school days were incomparably more exciting.
Not to mention the women in his life now, just having these three roommates made him feel that life was full of sunshine and fun.
The joy of their noisy, lively company was truly a great pleasure.
This must be a common sentiment shared by all who have attended university.
Isn’t there a saying online, “The four great bonds of life: bearing arms together, sharing the same window, visiting brothels together, splitting booty together”? Although it’s a jest, it shows just how deep the camaraderie between classmates can be. Every year at graduation, there are plenty of teary scenes at schools, and even the toughest guys might get red-eyed.
Thinking that he still had nearly five years of school life ahead of him, Luo Ziling felt fortunate to have met these three joyful fellows.
Once Cao Jianhui posted under his real name “Cao Jianhui” and uploaded the photos of Luo Ziling with Wu Mingyun and Li Mingxun talking together, the post’s popularity skyrocketed. Surprisingly, most of the replies were from young female students.
“Wow, my idol is so amazing, the Dean himself came to meet him. No, the Dean came to visit him. Hehe, I’m so jealous!”
“`
“Who took such an ugly photo of Luo, Cao Jianhui you better stand up right now, I won’t let you get away with this,” complained a lovesick girl on the third floor of the post after quoting Cao Jianhui’s original post.
“Has Luo Ziling really hacked life or something? Why has he received so much favor from the goddess of fate?” mused a boy filled with envious resignation.
On the way to get food, Cao Jianhui and his two friends kept refreshing the post, laughing as they walked.
Seeing their joyful demeanor and having not seen the post myself, I, Luo Ziling, could only smile helplessly.
When the four of us walked into the cafeteria, many girls came up to greet me, Luo Ziling, and the other three guys basked in the reflected glory.
Seeing the scene, I thought it wasn’t appropriate for me to show my face in the cafeteria in such a high-profile manner.
I didn’t know what kind of a scene it would be if Yang Qingyin or Ouyang Huihui came to the cafeteria.
Just when I thought of Ouyang Huihui, there she was right in front of me.
Ouyang Huihui, who had just gotten her food, was about to look for a seat under the gaze of many boys. Upon seeing me, Luo Ziling, and the others come in, she immediately came over to greet us.
I never expected to run into Ouyang Huihui in the cafeteria, given how many there are on campus.
However, with so many classmates watching, I couldn’t be impolite, so I simply greeted Ouyang Huihui with a smile.
Seeing this, Cao Jianhui immediately invited me to sit with Ouyang Huihui and said I should just wait while they got the food. I ended up sitting with Ouyang Huihui in an awkward spot.
The girl who was with Ouyang Huihui, curiously followed us and sat together, occasionally glancing at me, Luo Ziling.
“The dean actually came looking for you today?” Ouyang Huihui casually sat down and, smiling, said to me, “And the other person looks like an authority in the cardiovascular department of the affiliated hospital. Did they come to you because of the teacher you saved yesterday?”
“Pretty much,” I didn’t deny it.
“Your popularity at school is growing day by day. Look at this post Cao Jianhui started; it inadvertently accumulated so many layers.” Ouyang Huihui handed her cell phone to me to see, “It’s already spread over a dozen pages, and most of the top comments are from young girls.”
“Huihui, there’s a post about you too,” the girl sitting next to us also took out her phone to check the forum. She accidentally saw a new post and exclaimed curiously, “Hey, I’m in a post with you guys too, haha, I might get famous soon.”
I looked and sure enough, it was a post like this: “Yan University’s most popular male god is openly showing off his love in the cafeteria with the rising popular campus beauty.”
Just seeing the title of the post made me feel utterly dejected.
