Chapter 330 – Tenth Official Livestream Over
In the boundless outer space…
After flying at 5,000 times the speed of light for 17 minutes, the Type-R Spacecraft exited its FTL navigation mode and stopped between two massive orbs.
“We’re here.” Opening his eyes, Chen Yu stood up and looked at the two dazzling stars ahead. “That’s Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B. They are the Alpha Centauri system’s two largest stars.”
Snapping his fingers, Chen Yu further increased the spacecraft’s light filtering effect. He then activated the spacecraft’s gravity detection technology and scanned for all planets within a radius of 5,000 astronomical units.
However, after the scan results came in, Chen Yu couldn’t help but be dumbfounded.
There were actually no planets within the strong gravitational field of Alpha Centauri A and B…
The only noteworthy thing present within the two stars’ strong gravitational field was the remnant of a planet with a 12-kilometer radius found roughly 1.5 AU away from Alpha Centauri B.
“D-Did you find aliens?” Jack Ma asked eagerly.
“…No.” After rechecking the scan result in his mind and verifying its accuracy, Chen Yu shrugged helplessly and said, “Let alone aliens, there isn’t even a place for aliens to settle here. This place is a dead world.”
“How desolate…” the cross-dresser said in a rugged voice as he leaned against a wall and looked out at the two dazzling stars.
“…This is the nature of binary star systems. The powerful and chaotic gravitational field prevents the possibility of many rocks and dust from gathering and transforming into planets. And even if something sizable is formed, it would be easily thrown out of the system because of the three-body problem. The fact that Alpha Centauri can even retain one planet is already plenty amazing.”
After saying so, Chen Yu adjusted the spacecraft’s flight path and had it fly toward the remnant planet.
Five minutes later, the spacecraft arrived at its destination. He then put on his glove and said to everyone, “I’ll go out to take a look first. Do not follow me even if you have a spacesuit. There is too much rubble floating outside. Your simple spacesuits won’t be able to withstand impact with them,” Chen Yu said. He then opened a small gap in the cabin wall and squeezed out of it.
Whoosh!
Activating the plasma engine, he flew toward a huge, rotating “meteorite” and tapped on its hard exterior. “According to scan results, this fragment is brimming with silicon and magnesium. It is unlikely to be the residue of a solid planet crushed after an impact. Instead, it resembles more like the asteroid belt in our solar system.
“If there is only one star here and its gravitational field is stable, a planet of low mass might form after hundreds of millions of years. However, with the situation here as it is, there is no chance for a planet to form.”
Opening his backplate’s storage compartment, Chen Yu removed some of the rubble he collected from Proxima Centauri b. He then chiseled off some samples from the meteorite and stored them.
One minute later, the storage compartment was full once more. And after undergoing strict decontamination, he returned to the spacecraft’s cabin.
Boom.
After setting aside the heavy storage compartment, Chen Yu rubbed his slightly numb shoulders. He then faced the camera and said, “I made a mistake in my initial prediction. There is no alien civilization here. This means that the blue orb I encountered before most likely originates from outside the Alpha Centauri system. Simply put, this interstellar trip wasn’t as profitable as we expected. However, this is also an understandable result. After all, the universe is a very empty place.
“Actually, if not for time constraints, I personally wish to visit Tabby’s Star, which is more than a thousand light-years away. Let’s set up a foreshadowing here. If there’s an opportunity in the future, I’ll bring everything I have for a visit there. We can also be certain we’ll find aliens at Tabby’s Star.”
[Annihilate them! Let them fear the might of humans!]
[Control all of the alien scientists. Feed them a mouthful of food for every scientific paper they write.]
[Lock up the alien authors as well. Feed them a mouthful of feces for every chapter they write.]
[…]
[How many screws are you guys missing?]
[Why are you guys so violent? Isn’t it better to just capture and enslave them?]
[We should check whether they taste good first. We can consider other options if they don’t taste good.]
[Scary humans…]
[I wonder if there will be reproductive isolation between the aliens and us?]
1
[Mate, you have excellent tastes.]
Removing his left glove, Chen Yu took a look at the time and said, “It’s 5:21 PM now. We’ve been streaming since 9 AM. It’s been more than eight hours already. We have already reviewed the spacecraft’s overall performance and actual experience, so it’s about time we return.
“During these eight hours, we have experienced FTL travel, witnessed the reversal of time, and experienced a close encounter of the third kind. We have also harvested several hundred kilograms of alien rock samples. Most importantly, we have broadened our horizons and finally taken the first step out of the well known as the solar system.
“This will be an unforgettable day for both myself and the humans of Earth. This day will be forever recorded in history.
“Tsiolkovsky once said that Earth is the cradle of humanity, but one cannot remain in the cradle forever.” Taking a deep breath, Chen Yu patted the cabin’s transparent wall and concluded, “The old man must’ve never thought that in just a few dozen years, humanity, which is still in its infancy stages, has not only left its cradle, but it had even done so while riding a tank.
“That’s it for today’s livestream. Firstly, I would like to thank Roaming Haha[1] for providing us with the Type-R Spacecraft. Secondly, I would like to thank the audience for staying with me throughout this livestream. As everyone can see, after my access level has reached C-, the technological content of the products I receive have clearly risen by several levels. I believe that the next official livestream will be equally exciting. Let us pursue the limits of human civilization together!
“Alas, there is no banquet that lasts forever in the world. As the return trip won’t have any exciting events, I won’t waste everyone’s precious time. Let us meet again in the eleventh official livestream a month later! Be there, or be square!”
[Nani?]
[What’s with this abrupt ending?!]
[I haven’t had my fill yet…]
[Don’t stop! We can still watch!]
[Guys! Go look at posts relating to Transdimensional Review! The government has stopped banning them!]
[I want to watch the return trip as well. It won’t harm your electricity bill, so why not continue the livestream?]
[I suddenly discovered that the cross-dresser is quite temperamental!]
[I know, right? Despite being so flirty, he’s not willing to let others touch him.]
[Where did the female assistant go… (◞‸◟;)]
When Chen Yu turned off the livestream, the barrage of bullet comments came to an abrupt halt.
“The review is over.” Lowering his wrist, Chen Yu turned toward the interactive event participants and said, “We will begin our return trip now. We will still travel at 5,000 times the speed of light. To alleviate the discomfort caused by the light distortions, I suggest you return to your rooms. Does anybody have any questions?”
At this time, the woman from the Red Coast Observatory suddenly spoke up, “Mr. UP, can I leave something in Alpha Centauri?”
“Here?”
“Yes, here.”
“What do you want to leave behind?”
After pulling on her hair lightly, the woman, the woman grabbed a small gray pot from her backpack and said, “My husband’s ashes.”
Everyone: “…”
…
Whoosh.
Accompanied by the spreading of white powder, the Type-R Spacecraft carrying roughly 30 Earthlings departed from the binary star’s gravitational field. The spacecraft disappeared instantly without leaving any traces behind.
…
Meanwhile, on the red planet located within Proxima Centauri’s habitable zone…
The lightsaber Chen Yu discarded suddenly trembled slightly, shaking off some of the rubble stacked around it…
