The doctor gave Zhou Hengguang a fever shot and prescribed some medicine. Then, Zhou Hengyang sent him home.
When they entered the house, they found Ji Fang sleeping on the sofa. Hearing the commotion, he opened his eyes and instantly woke up upon seeing the boss.
“Why are you here?” Zhou Hengyang asked expressionlessly.
“Big boss, I… I’m waiting for our Deputy Director.”
“You left him outside in the cold wind?” Zhou Hengyang’s anger surged when he thought of his brother standing outside in the cold and catching a fever.
“I’m sorry.” Ji Fang immediately apologized. “I won’t do it again.”
Zhou Hengguang, sitting lazily on the longest single-seater sofa, spoke up for his subordinate. “It’s not his fault. I didn’t let him follow me.”
“Forget it!” Zhou Hengyang wasn’t one to take out his anger on others. He was just worried about his brother, which made him angrier than usual. He waved his hand, saying, “Go back and rest!”
Ji Fang stood there, unsure whether to leave or stay. He looked to Zhou Hengguang for help.
“Go back and pack your luggage. Pick me up tomorrow morning at the scheduled time, and meet me at the entrance of the design institute.”
“Got it!” Ji Fang agreed and quickly ran out as if escaping.
He was terrified of being caught by the big boss.
“Why did he run off so fast?” Zhou Hengyang grumbled.
“He’s afraid of you.”
“What is there to be afraid of?” The two brothers sat facing each other. “My image in the factory is much better than yours. Everyone’s afraid of you, not me.”
“That’s because they’re blind. My secretary is different. He’s smart enough to see through your exterior to your true nature.” Zhou Hengguang valued Ji Fang for a reason. Despite Ji Fang’s tendency to overthink and seem a bit silly, his intuition was sharp.
His subconscious fear of Big brother indicated that his instincts told him Zhou Hengyang was more dangerous than he appeared.
“Hmph! He does take after you a bit.” Zhou Hengyang got up to make his brother a cup of hot milk, insisting he drink it.
Zhou Hengguang was almost cross with anger, but he missed his Big brother’s care after so many years. In the end, he drank the milk obediently.
“This tastes terrible. Get me a glass of water.”
“Take every chance you get to boss me around!” Zhou Hengyang said, but he still got up to fetch the water.
“Alright, you’ve ordered me around. Now, can you tell me why you were standing in front of my house?” Zhou Hengyang looked at Zhou Hengguang with a probing and knowing gaze. He watched as Zhou Hengguang’s expression turned cold again, his thin lips curling into a cold sneer.
“I told you not to play with people’s hearts and test their nature. You never took my words seriously. Now you’ve paid the price, right?”
“What price did I pay?” Zhou Hengguang played with the empty glass in his hand, pretending indifference.
“If you hadn’t paid the price, would you be so careless with yourself? Would you end up like this?” Zhou Hengyang exploited Zhou Hengguang so freely because he knew him well. He knew that Zhou Hengguang would never joke about his health.
Zhou Hengguang had always been picky since he was young. He wanted the best food, drink, clothes, and everything else. Even a slight compromise was unacceptable to him. Despite this, he often had a bad mood, a peculiar personality, and a bad temper.
No matter how much work he had, he always kept it within a manageable range. He would never exhaust himself to the point of illness.
